Ok good deal! Was starting to get worried as i seem to remember him saying something about his health.

I'm back!!!!

Hey guys....I am FINALLY BACK AND ON THE BURB PROJECT. As you know, my home flooded in the Nashville flood and we lost the majority of our home. It took forever to get rebuild and reengineer all the drainage and build retaining walls etc...etc. All of this took a tremendous toll on my fused up bolted together jacked up back. My work (Day job / career) has been like the 9th level of hell for months. When I got the house finished and we moved back in....we were supposed to live in our RV for about 4 days. That turned into two months. You would not believe how small an RV gets when everything is going wrong and you are working 18 hour days. I am also into offshore boats. I only went to the lake 5 times the entire summer. I live at the lake. This is the least I have boated in a summer in 20 years due to the fact that I dont get home from work until midnight or later every night. I did get to go to the Shootout at Lake of the Ozarks in Osage Beach Missouri. I stayed up all night the night before we left trying to get my dually cleaned up and serviced and the boat detailed. I was able to get a trail postponed at the last minute......so we went up there with some buddies. None of us had ever been. It is the largest non sanctioned boat race in the United States. There were over 70,000 people in attendence. I registered to race to just say that I did it. There were million dollar rigs everywhere. We were broken into mulitple categorys...the main ones being Catamerans and Vee Bottoms and Pure Race boats and Pleasure or Race Pleasure. Mine is a V bottom pleasure boat. It has a queen size bed in the nose, bathroom with head, 2 couches...huge sound system...etc...etc. I had a full tank of gas nearly 300 gallons...tools, coolers..anchors..cameras....towels....cases of water...enuff stuff to have spent 4 days on the water. I drove my boat to the race course both days. We were staying 15 miles up the lake from our condo to the race course. Everyone else was launching at the race course with just enough fuel to make a pass. It was a rolling start 30mph max then on the gas to see how fast you can accelerate to in 3/4 of a mile run for big boats. This is not the top speed of the faster boats in my class in my category...just how fast you can get it going in 3/4 of a mile. Keep in mind, my boat weighs about 12,000#'s full of fuel. It was televised up there. Anyway. I raced in the 37 to 42' class which was the most competitive and I was in the unlimited hp category....any thing you can come up with...piston power, turbine....alcohol...whatever. Long story short, I came in SECOND IN THE UNITED STATES! On Saturday, I was 1mph slower that the lead boat. On Sunday we were racing in 3' whitecaps. The other guy ran his boat on the edge so much that he almost wrecked and actually hit one of the bouys at the end of the track. He beat me by 4mph. I hung mine our like never before and I almost wrecked too. I came out of the gas twice all the way to the stops and still ran the same speed. If I had been able to hang on to it or had the ballz....I would have one! Not only did I come in Second in my Class but I came in Second for Top Gun V Bottom pleasure boat in the United States for all lengths and engine categories. I was interviewed by two magazines and there was a photoshoot for a nudie mag that started on my boat while my wife was getting us some food in the wet pits...she came back with this woman laid across the nose of my boat so needless to say....she put a stop to that. We moved her to my buddies boat beside me and we got to take pictures of her too since it was on our boats. One of the girls with us ended up signing a release and whe was photo'd too. Here are some pics from the trip.

When I would get on the gas around a 100, I would just Check out from the Helicopter. He would just dissappear when I buried the sticks!! Here are a few more of the trip and then it is back to the burb.

The centerfold chick got in the back of my partners boat and got totally nude. These are the G rated. It took a tremendous amount of finesse to convince my wife that she was just as pretty.....so everytime that I took a pic of the Centerfold.....I would turn around and take one of my wife. The little black haired girl is a Cajun that was with us. My wife is the ultimate good sport that puts up with me and loves doing all the same stuff I do.....she is in the shorts that say shootout on the back.

Last ones. After we got back, we were asked to be in a Budwieser commercial sponsoring a custom car, Chopper, and boat show in Nashville. We had the Hooters corporate girls loaded in the boat and we shot the commercial early Sunday morning before Hooters opened.

Here are the last few. Here is the rig that beat me. The ironic thing is that we are all good friends and boat together when we can. Who would have known that we had the fastest pleasure boats out there. The marketed the commercial as the two fastest pleasure boats in the US.

Ok, I got back started on the 572 install on the Burb. It has been sitting outside....so I spent hours cleaning it up. I got it inside....got everything organized and starting trying to get my stacks and piles together to try and remember where I left off. I had to change the rear flywheels because the really nice TCI I hade would not bolt to the 4l80E converter. So, I ended up having to by that FREAKING $350.00 GM flexplate that has the bolt pattern of the 4L80E torque convertor, is made for and internally balanced engine and allegedly rated for 700+hp. We are going to find out. So, I have the new flywheel on. I have built my new motor mounts gotten them epoxy painted and I am going to try to set the motor over into the truck. My main concern is fuel pump clearance on the crossmember. I may have to do some modifications. So, I am going to try to set it over in the truck in the morning to mock everything up. That way....whatever I have forgotton in my stack of stuff I bought to intall all of this stuff will give me a chance to start ordering parts on Monday for Tuesday / Wednesday delivery. I am going to try and take vacation all week the coming week and this is the only thing I am working on....so hopefully I will be able to make some progress. Here are a few pics from this afternoons work. I will post more tomorrow as it progresses. I have all my fuel tank fittings and parts....I just need to fab it up and reinstall all of it. So....here we go. This is not like me to take this long on something....but between the Flood, the increase in my workload (I'm not complaining.....I am glad to have a job) and all the other curvballs I have been thrown.....I am still hanging in there. I just saw where a couple of you guys were asking about me. I really appreciate it and I am glad to be back. I cant wait to get the burb running. I even got a new tag for it! Ive still got some paint and detail work to do under the hood....so don't start beating up on my lack of pimpness in my hole in engine bay. :D
