Had knee surgery on Tuesday so was kinda limited on what I could do. This weekend we got a lot of rain and the wife was gone so I took my time and got some stuff done in the garage.
I upgraded my braking system to using a booster from a 1985 k20, M/C from a 2000 Tahoe, and a reservoir from a 2001 s10 for hood clearance. On some facebook groups people were raving about the upgrade so figured I would give it a try. I think it was worth it, stops better than the 3/4 ton M/C setup I had before also has a much smother feel to the pedal. I did have to get a push rod from a later model squarebody. Took me 2 trips to the junk yard to figure that one out. First I picked up one form a 1974 then found out it wouldn't fit the 1985 booster, had to go back a get a different one.
Since I was removing so much, I decided to upgrade the rear axle lines to the ORD braided ones. Way nicer than the rubber ones I had before, and so much better than the rough country ones I have up front. Was easy to install even with my limited knee movement and the perfect length.
Also came across these brake line holders to keep the lines from rubbing on things . The are made for heeps but worked great on my blazer, much better than the zip ties I had before. Just connects to the lower shock mount. I got them off of ebay teraflex 1101255.
Now for the big score. I picked up a pair of NOS GM doors and a fender, unused with stickers still on them. I did a test fit and even without moving the hinges they fit way better. The doors currently on my blazer are reproduction ones and there is a huge difference between the two.
When I first got the doors I was told they were originals. Had my brother pick them up for me. After taking them apart they were repos, I decided to just roll with them until I found something better.
Now I have these NOS ones to paint and put on!
