Pinsco63's 6.0 swap into a 91 suburban! 8-3 successful test fire!

Nice work on the harness.
When I started doing mine I unplugged everything I didn't need and unloomed it on the motor. Pulling all them back up to the computer connectors, this seemed much easier for me to end up with just the wires I was removing.

Really it wasn't too bad, I dig doing wiring and making it look good so guess I am odd! It really did help having mitch helping, we could each work one side of the harness then when a wire went to the other guys side he kept cutting it out. It really is kinda scary though seeing how much wire we cut out!
I would say so far the hardest part believe it or not is the truck side wiring, trying to find a good schematic is a real pain in the @ss!

I like that approach. Would help a guy like me from stripping out too many wires

If I remember right the truck side was not that bad. If you look at the fuse block it has a bolt in the middle of it and it is split into 3 pieces. Right side has the front clip wire, headlights horn wiper. Middle was motor started power wires ect. Left side goes to the rear lights window ect. A few do cross in the looms but its not that complicated.

not much of an update

Ok well mitch and I worked on this thing saturday night and got some of the little stuff done. mitch drilled and tapped the oil sending unit to accept the 1/8 npt to 1/4 npt adapter for the stock oil sending unit. He then drilled a tapped water pump to accept the 1/8npt to 1/4 hose elbow for the steam line on the front of engine. I Finished up putting the trans back together, getting all the harness buttoned up and pan cleaned, painted and sealed.
Which brings us to today. I got my fuel lines set up ready to go to fuel rail. Hooked up heater hoses cleaned top of engine(which I should have done before install), took all the a/c lines off and caped them, plus picked up more parts. so not much update but its progress.

This is the fuel lines flared out with injection hose on the steel lines. The clamp is for the factory oil cooler lines, I just had it laying on bench just cut to fit and painted it. You can also see the oil pressure sender mitch did as well, thanks buddy

Here is top of engine cleaned up, all a/c lines gone and caped. didn't take before wish I had this was just a mess.

This is my score form sunday. Mitch and I took my old 350 up to WA and sold it, so while we were up there I said lets stop by upull it so we did. Got the air box and intake off of and 02 pick up plus the throttle cable that fits my burb perfectly, the steering shaft out of an xj, plus a whole lot of bolts and bracket for other project all this for under 38.00 bones so not too bad

Up next is finish the wiring for truck side and start to splice engine harness in

Its looking like today might be the day for a test fire! Fingers crossed. Im working today, but i told Scott to take a video and post it up here if it actually runs.

It Fired! It Fired!

Pics of harness just roughed in to make sure it would start, my awsome fuse and relay block and of course the vids!! :D

Oh and I think its sweet that my factory oil pressure gauge even works!!! 55psi:pimp:

Video. Click it.

The third part of our trio. Tim. He is our technical expert.

Actual first fire. With an unhappy baby.

And another fire.

The main tech (Tim) agrees. Also with those headers being open is cool, but the egr ports are open too and I thought I was hearing a ticking noise like lifters or worse- Nope just those stupid ports.

Now all the real fun begins making clean and driveable!

awesome! :thumb:

I still can't wrap my head around all that wiring...:yikes: if it were my truck, the wipers would come on and the left turn signal would blink faster with an increase in rpms...

i'm impressed. wanna see some burn outs soon...

Its funny cause Scott and I have talked about it. I have said, that if i had to do it again, i would just buy a harness. He has said he would build his own again. But, he is much more proficient at wiring than i am.
