Read through this thread today. Looks like a good build. Are you parting out the short flatbed to build this new plow truck, or will you wind up with 2 trucks when the smoke clears? So far it looks like you're not using much from the old one.

front dana 60 / 3"hd tuff country leafs front / rear 2600lb 56" springs / plow setup / maybe the engine & tbi / light bar and switch unit / tires & rims / new gas tank for tbi / few smaller items .
otherwise not much . rest of the goodys will be parted and sold off.

Sounds like you'll have 1.5 trucks when you're done.
You trying to get it finished this season sounds kinda like me deciding I'm gonna reroof and reside my house this fall (just a little ways into the roof at this point). I think we're both racing the weather.

rest of the old truck is SHOT from years of rust . I can see the road in spots threw the floor .
frame might save for a buggy built or something .

little work in the shop yesterday and today .
got some axle and springs under it for now to get it mobile for work room in the shop .
for now old stiff 6 leaf 4" front with no shackles just touching the frame .
rear is now 22-547 2600lb springs for a buddys truck were doing soon . I got others just didn't have avalible yet .
the hydrolic lift table it was on is out of the way now and I welded on 4 .. 3/4" bolts and some cast iron wheels from a old jack I found in the dumpster .

What does this look like? If they're not held by the shackles, do they have a tendency to slide from side to side at the rear (and potentially have the frame fall off the spring)? Or are they sufficiently restrained at the front end to prevent this?

little more today . trying to clean up shop / yard before deep freeze and possible snow . so figure I put stuff were it needs to go in the end anyways .
bumper template look good . but need to redo the mounting brackets . I forgot the box end cross member drops over the frame a inch or so . and I made the brackets for up in and bolt to the top . need to make them go outside and bolt up to the bottom . also need 2-3" more stick out to space bumper better away from box . but over all happy with design .

set on new k30 frame .
back a bit and down for pic to show view for little cars . . . .
and up closer for better view of design .

b/a products 3/8" line with full flip clasp hook is what I will run . we use them on all our tow trucks good stuff.
and these hooks are the sh!t
its a swivel / and the design makes it so hook don't fall off / loose stuff like reg style with stupid tin tab that's dead in a week or 2 .

I hate those cheap tin "safety hooks"--ones on my Fisher plow lift hook lasted about 2 storms,now I have to put a 3/8" wire rope clamp over the hook's opening,so the lift chain cant jump out when you are stacking snow,or hit a good dip on the streets--nothing puckers your sphincter more than having the blade fly up,then crash to the pavement when your going 30+ mph on a dry tar road..

I ended up cutting off the tin safety thingy on my small crane too--it was UN safe having to fumble with the bent up tin thing to get the chain off it !..I punctured my thumb on that tin thing and its spring countless times..
