Project 82 TCBF -10.13.9 - progress!!!

Mornin Ben...

As to the pm, yeah, thats about it... Couple other tidbits, talk to me if you undertake it...

As far as tires go, personally, I'm looking at SSR's hard again... I keep going back to them as my choice...

LTBs wear fast but man are they bad a$$ in the mud. They are probably the best pulling tires I've ever run. Don't expect to get more than 20K miles out of them, and thats running them till there is no tread showing. Only around $130 ea. from 4 Wheel Parts. They are also bias ply so in the morning you might feel as if you are riding on squares.

Yea. I`m having a tough time deciding. I would like to get at least 30-35k out of them, and I`ll be getting 5, so I can rotate them all. Not sure what to get yet....

Yea, my current tires are Bias Ply, and they $UCK! Are LTBs the same as the TSL Radial, or?

The tread is a lil deeper, the lugs hang out the sides more, and they put alot of other tires to shame off road. The TSL radial is not a bad tire. Ive got a buddy that ran 32x11.5s on his yota pickup for a while and they rode smooth and pulled pretty good. He stepped up to 35x12.5 SSRs and now that yota is a hoss. With a radial tire its gonna ride alot better than a bias ply on cold mornings. Off road you can't beat a bias ply tire because of how pliable the side walls are. A radial tire uses steel belts to stiffen the sidewalls, so handling will be better. Therefore, radials are more of a street friendly tire.

I REFUSE to run a bias on the street... dinosaur tech compared to radials..

if you want 35k, I'd suggest the BFG muds, BFG's wear incredible.. my mall terrains are damn near 60k... Tho i think the mud terrain performance probably really sucks compared to any of the interco offerings...

How many miles did he get out of them, any idea?

I only do about 10-15% of my driving off road, the rest is on the street, but all the wheeling here is MUD!:D

I know he replaced his front 2 tires. I wanna say a good 30K miles, but don't hold me to that. Also another factor into this equation is a toyota p/u is alot lighter than a fullsize K5 and that affect wear on tires too.

So, the TSLs don`t look to be a pocket friendly tire.

Here we go again:o It always seems to get narrowed down to these two, Trxus MT or BFG MT.

Id go SSRs if i had the coin. Wider helps, but your running a 10 bolt rear and you might snap a shaft. I would also give toyo Mts a look at. My sisters boyfriend runs them on his CJ, and he didnt use any weights to balance them and they ride like glass and pull pretty decent in the mud.

well..ill throw in my 50th of a dollar... i've owned the following tires:
BFG all terrains
BFG mud terrains
interco SSR's
interco LTB's
Dunlop mud rovers
and now, i have mud grapplers

hands down the LTB's pulled in the mud like nothing else...i had them on my heavy ass z71 the flavor was 34x10.50x17 and i loved them to death. but if you want mileage, i'd go with the ssr's or the BFG muds. i got 51k out of my BFG mud terrains with close watch on teh pressure, and rotated religiously....i took care of the ssr's the same way and got about 33k out of them, which isn't bad for a swamper....

it looks like im gonna get about 20K out of the ltb's if im lucky. but damn, they're great offroad!!! and cheap!!!!! and i can't believe how stong the sidewalls are. amazing.

I`m leaning more towards the BFG Muds, as I`ve heard some horror stories from Trxus owners about they being out of round...

Ive got BFG muds on mine right now. Nothing pulls like a swamper. But do as you feel necessary.

WOW! I just looked at the price of the LTBs, only $140 for 33x12.5:eek1: :eek1:

They ride fine and they are pretty much brand new. I'm who that could care less how crappy my truck rode because I want all out performance. I was tempted to buy a set of LTBs and sell the BFG muds to my ex girlfriend (04 rubi).

Dude what happened to your plans for the MTZ? I think that its better than the BFG Muds and has very low road noise too. And they are a radial design.

Also the 33" MTZs are definately cheaper than my 35" if you are conserned about price.

no has mentioned them so I will. Goodyear MTR's. I had a set on my truck that were 305/70R16, it's a 33-12.5. I got 45,000 miles out of them. they were great offroad. I would say I use the truck about 85-90% on asphalt. they have seen some really hard offroad use and didn't chunk. I beat on them for the first year while my trail truck was down.

just replaced them with another set. a friend of mine got the MTZ's. I was going to wait and see what kind of performance he gets out of them before I bought a set. so far they are louder then mine. he hasn't taken it offroad except for a muddy field.

I really can not say enough good things about these tires. I do everything imaginable with a pickup with them. tow, haul heavy loads, lots of in town driving, high speed highway driving, snow, mud, rocks, you name it. they balanced out easily enough for a 33. I didn't rotate them that often, maybe 6 times. I think I will get a lot more miles out of the next set since I will be wheeling it less and trying to rotate them more often.

Don`t worry Manny, I did tell him my situation before hand..

So, what do you guys think?

As soon as I get my tax money back, I`ll be taking a trip to Town Fair Tire. Anyone care to narrow my selection down? Now, I`ll eventually be locked, front and rear, so take that into consideration. BFG MT, TRXUS MT, or TSL Radial?

Hey Ben,

Excellent! I'm proud of ya' kid! That's the right thing to do. Hope you didn't take offense. It's why I tried to position it as a FYI and I apologize if I came across as accusatory. My bad! Good show all the way around. Keep up the good work on the build.

Manny

What do you guys think about this...

Alright, I know have 2 sets of 6 lug wheels. I just came accross a set of 33x12.5 ATs, pirellis i believe, and they are from the same seller that sold me my wheels. I`m going to try to get them for $200. These tires are practially brandnew, with less than 1000 miles on them. If I could get these for that price, should I?

If I do, I will run 33x13.5 LTBs, just for the trails, and maybe for the ride to the trails, unless I do OBA:D . I just couldn`t believe how cheap the LTBs were. For the same price of the BFG Muds I was going to get, I can have the best of both worlds, with a kick @$$ street tire, and a kick @$$ trail tire...let me know what ya think;)
