Yours would come out better than mine cause I could tell you what not do. Little things like take the time to drill out *all* the spot welds. Keep the top on when you do it. Dont think that the post sits on the flanges, you actually have to bend them down and cut off excess. Also, the truck ones from LLC or try Raybuck auto parts, fit the Blazer (I did have to drill 2 holes and back weld nuts for the side latches). When your ready to do it let me know you can try out my Lincoln 3200HD if you dont already have one.

Well, nice pics but I was talking to Ben... I wanna see all the goodies that he has got and his opinion on their quality.
 
Got a quite a bit of work done today. Put in my "new" steering column, 85' non tilt, big ol honkin steering wheel:

Overall, not a bad job. Wasn`t too hard , but not real easy. Took me and my buddy, and a little help from his dad, about 1.5-2hrs, with a lunch break, to put it all in. End result, excellent steering! Went down the highway pretty good, with VERY little movement of the steering wheel. The ORD brace also helps alot, the frame isn`t moving one bit!
 
More progress. Stripped interior in the rear, getting ready to do some metal work. Rot wasn`t as bad as I expected, which is always a plus!

I also decided instead of doing a bunch of fiberglass work on that half top to shorten it, I was just going to take a single piece of sheet metal, have it bent up and strengthened at a machine shop, via rolling beads into it, then make it removable. The window will be from an early 80s pickup, a slider window. Hopefully it will work the way I want it to. I plan to put a piece of angle iron/aluminum, so there is a lip that will go back about 8 inches, down to the bed floor, and across the whole bed floor. Then some rubber weather stripping will be put on the lip, to seal it. I`m not sure if that makes sence or not, but heres a picture. I will use some rubber weather stripping on the cab section as well...let me know what you think....here`s a picture (excuse the fact that it looks like the work of a 1st grader) The red is the piece in questions (anyone have any idea what it would cost to have that piece bent up and beads rolled into it? i could finish the cutting, and drill the holes my self, TIA)

I was expecting the bed floor to bed rotted up farther, and even the wheel wheels to have a little on them. Turned out to be nowheres near that amount.

I`m really looking forward do getting this sheet metal "wall" made up. It will basically let me get rid of the heavy cap completely, but also allow me to take it off and have the whole back of the cab open, just like it would be if you were to take the top off.
