i might be able to get a motor lift for this weekend

I donno, eather sat or sunday, because my buddy wants me to help him with a body lift on an 03 chevy pickup

Tom
Cool, that would be awesome! If not, no biggie, I still need to get an engine stand. Going to Amherst this weekend hopefully for the swap meet, so I`ll try and grab one.

By the way, looks like its time to pay up Tom!

New pics. Front clips off. Next, bumper, then the fuel tank. Then work on the motor/tranny! .....

did ya make those clevis mounts yourself?
Yep, took me about 100,000 sawzall blades to cut out that 1" thick stock.

Nope, Kert from DIY4x made these bad boys up for me. Why the funky shape? I don`t know:D All I know, is they will bolt up, and give me a place to mount clevis:D

If you put a TBI on a older block everything will work but you will have one bolt that won't work on the the serpintine system if you use it. Newer heads have three bolt holes older have only two, no need to drill it anything works as it is. The intake bolts down different too so depending on which intake you use, depends on the work you have too do. The newer ones bolt straight down on the center four the older at an angle, the older heads can be tapped to make work.
As for the intake, I`m going to go with an adapter that will allow a 350 TBI to bolt onto a Q Jet intake. Any recomendations on the serp setup though? I though about using it. But I could always use the V Belt setup....

I would use the serp setup personally. It is simpler to replace a belt if you lose one, you only have to carry one replacement belt, and it is easy to tell if you lose one. The single bolt that you can't put into the heads is a minor issue that you can ignore, so I would say go for it if you have the complete setup.

I'd go for an aftermarket intake either Holley, Weiand or edelbrock. Flows better and you don't have to mess with adapters.

Yeah. I`m going to go with an aftermarket intake. Edelbrock performer to be exact. I`ll get one made for that year motor, and that way I don`t have to deal with having anything machined, get the intake, then the adapter.

Yeah, I have buddy trying to use a serp setup on a 78 motor going in his 80 TA. Not sure if he has come up with an answer. Thanks brother!

that cab was a find. it sucks that you are gonna need to cut a hole in the shiny new paint for your 4wd shifter.

I know:doah: but, its gotta be done:rolleyes:

Thanks Chas. I appreciate you tuning back in.:wink1:

Hey I am kinda curious on thoser Clevis mounts you had made. Are those designed to fit behind the stock bumper? or ?

Here`s another "What would you do". I found the axles I want, and I`m already getting them. 10b/14bsf, 4.10s. But, they`re 8 lug. Here`s what I`m wondering. I have three choices: Convert them to 6 lug (I have everything minus shafts for the rear, and can use the 6 lug stuff on my truck for the front axle), buy 15x10 8 luggers (anyone know a good source?), or buy H2s, and spend practically $220 a piece for tires:eek1:

I`d like to keep them 8 lug, only because it would be easier, but swapping to 6 lug would let me keep my current wheels/tires. I`m leaning more towards converting to 6 lug.

TIA guys

If you keep it as 8 lug and run 15's there is going to be some :grind:required to clear the calipers on the front, IIRC. It won't be as much as on a 60, but it is still something to consider.

I am not a 100% sure but i think its only the 60.the dana 44 and 10 bolt could requrie some grinding but probaly shouldnt be to bad

I vote keep them 8lug and sell your 6 lug 14bsf stuff to me... ;):D:deal:

Also the H2s are badass

Also think that you would be selling your current wheels and tires so then you're only paying the difference...
