Project 82 TCBF -10.13.9 - progress!!!

Here`s another "What would you do". I found the axles I want, and I`m already getting them. 10b/14bsf, 4.10s. But, they`re 8 lug. Here`s what I`m wondering. I have three choices: Convert them to 6 lug (I have everything minus shafts for the rear, and can use the 6 lug stuff on my truck for the front axle), buy 15x10 8 luggers (anyone know a good source?), or buy H2s, and spend practically $220 a piece for tires:eek1:

I`d like to keep them 8 lug, only because it would be easier, but swapping to 6 lug would let me keep my current wheels/tires. I`m leaning more towards converting to 6 lug.

TIA guys

H2's and 36" IROK's would be my choice for your build. On the other hand if you want to stay with your 33" meats, 15x8 steel wheels can be had for about $40 a piece through keystone (where I got mine). Some caliper grinding is required, along with grinding of the mount/backing plate but it can be done in an afternoon and it's worth it to keep 15" wheels IMHO. You also aren't going down to 1/2 ton brakes up front, the 3/4 ton rotors ARE bigger and bigger = stronger!!!

If it was my build I'd be going H2's and 39.5" IROK's. :D

Yep, one plus to going 3/4 ton, BETTER BRAKES!, which always good. I`d rather have the TrXus MTs, rather than the IROKs, as I`d like to get some kind of mileage on them:crazy:

I figure, with 3.73s and 33s, I`d be in the same situation I`m in now with 4.10s and 35s, and I don`t have any problems now. Good cooler/filter, and I`ll be good to go!

Well, finally was able to get the motor/tranny pulled out of that truck today. still need to seperate them and put the motor on the stand, but making progress.

For running the TBI on the 82 350, which route seems best:

Get another stock intake and have it machined to work,

Get a Edelbrock Performer TBI Intake from summit $260 and have it machined,

or get a new intake for the 82 motor, with the EGR Valve, for $160, and $50 TBI adapter?

If I use the older intake, will all the ECM stuff (ie sensors) work right? Can I reuse the dist. thats on my 90 motor?

TIA

TTT

Also got the motor/tranny seperated. I need to get longer bolts tomorrow, and put the motor on the stand.

What are the chances that the cam in the 82 is going to cause me problems with the TBI? How can I check?

TIA

Question fellas. I`m able to get a 87 shortbed frame. Has 350tbi,700r4, 208, 10bs, yadayada, and a rad support. Would it be worth picking up for $500 and putting my cab on it, or stick with using my frame?

shortbed!

i got a mint short bed thats for sale too...

then keep the blazer to wheel the crap outta

Tom

*hijack...

Thanks for the parts Ben :waytogo:

*hijack off...

Nice doing business Glenn! Good luck with the radiator support:wink1:

Ehh, realisticly, I`d be better of with my frame. A shortbed would be nice, but I`d rather a custom flatbed. Sure I coud still do a flatbed on the short bed frame, but then I have to swap all my suspension over, etc. Kind of not worth it anymore, if it had the bed, I`d be all over it.

On the flipside, I got some free "M/T" Valve covers today for my motor. Just need to strip them, then repaint them. Tomorrow, the motor starts getting torn down and degreased. Fronts coming off (ie alt, and all brackets/belts) and the dist. etc. Hope to have it all cleaned up and painted before it gets to cold.

ic... i think it would look better on the balzer frame with like a stepside bed shortened

Tom

Well, so far, this is what I`ve collected for parts for the big swap, besides the cab and the motor.

Edelbrock Performer TBI intake, Remote starter solenoid, MSD Blaster Coil, Accel Header Plugs, chrome fuel pump block off plate (BLING :p:), Cloyes HD Double Roller Timing Chain Set, Melling oil pump, black engine paint (for valve covers), Fel Pro timing set, valve cover, and oil pan gaskets, and last but not least, tonights addition, Hedman Ceramic Coated headers. Alot more on route!:D

how about those headers? they look pretty sweet
