1/2 ton status
Here`s another "What would you do". I found the axles I want, and I`m already getting them. 10b/14bsf, 4.10s. But, they`re 8 lug. Here`s what I`m wondering. I have three choices: Convert them to 6 lug (I have everything minus shafts for the rear, and can use the 6 lug stuff on my truck for the front axle), buy 15x10 8 luggers (anyone know a good source?), or buy H2s, and spend practically $220 a piece for tires
I`d like to keep them 8 lug, only because it would be easier, but swapping to 6 lug would let me keep my current wheels/tires. I`m leaning more towards converting to 6 lug.
TIA guys
H2's and 36" IROK's would be my choice for your build. On the other hand if you want to stay with your 33" meats, 15x8 steel wheels can be had for about $40 a piece through keystone (where I got mine). Some caliper grinding is required, along with grinding of the mount/backing plate but it can be done in an afternoon and it's worth it to keep 15" wheels IMHO. You also aren't going down to 1/2 ton brakes up front, the 3/4 ton rotors ARE bigger and bigger = stronger!!!
If it was my build I'd be going H2's and 39.5" IROK's.
