Project MULE - Expedition build on a 1991 1500 4x4 Suburban

I won't have that problem. I removed the latch assembly and went to hood pins.

I've ALWAYS seen them mounted port side down. Not sure if there is a good reason for this.

Might want to check into it though, and possibly prevent an air bubble of some sort.

The factory oil cooler I have which is the same brand is port down. The instructions for the LPD type cooler is ports on the side or on top. this prevents air bubbles and will allow the cooler to function properly. If there is any air in the system it gets purged once it hits the tranny.

Here is a datasheet on B&M Supercoolers. It was this that lead me to call them and ask. Yes you can aim them down but especially on a LPD cooler aim them sideways or up so you want to make sure the system is air bubble free.

Sounds good. Good work.

Slowly getting there. I still need to plumb the tranny lines and wire everything.

Initial test shows no leaks in either the PS cooling system or the transmission cooling system. transmission temp gauge reading and electric fan turning as it reaches temperature.

I just need to finish wiring the hot side of everything but its pretty much good to go. The front end still retains a factory clean look with the grill on.

Cooler is looking good and I like how those lights look installed, i got my fingers crossed for christmas for my burb. Where are you planning to mount your trans temp gauge?

Take a closer look at the pics. the port on the right has to 1/8" ports for both the temp gauge and the thermal switch for the fan controller. That is the port out to the tranny so I know what temp of fluid its receiving.

Yeah that was a complete brain fart on my end!:waytogo:

I plan on building a full length center console and the extra gauges will go there. Along with the power inverter, control switches and radios.

I'm gonna keep an eye on your build. Looking good and the plan is pretty cool. Can't wait for the next install

Well, looks like I have some work to do this weekend. :doah:

The Mule went into the tranny shop last week due to no lockup. They have been diagnosing and replacing everything and now today they are going to swap out the converter. We may get it back this afternoon, hopefully.
