Project Overtime: 1978 K5

I just picked this up on Friday. It is a 1978 K5, Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear, 4.10's. The frame is immaculate, body is very very good. Needs a motor, trans, t case, front clip, and the normal little stuff that goes on with something like this. It was a project of someone's and they just lost interest in it, so I got it for a smoking deal. Plans right now are to put it together and make a nice driver a little bit at a time. Onto the pics!

lucky they didn't get it road worthy with some of the u-bolt getto in the rear / tcase drop spacers / and I hate steering block spacers on king pin 60's .

also nice 60 with a spicer trac-loc posi = light duty unit . power-loc is the HD unit .

I'm going to be fixing all the booty fab on it to get it right.

You're saying this has a posi in it?

I hate you! Was going to say lower but then said naw D60. Crazy what you can find when you don't live in NC.

East coast truck? What the hell was he planning on doing with 3/4" plates stuck to the top of rear spring plates????:D

Its got the brace already, and the frame is painted with Imron already, so I am kinda hesitant to weld anything to the frame unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks dude! Yeah, it'll be a work in progress, but hopefully not too long before it sees the road again.

I hear ya.... but on the flip side they always crack so I would recommend doing it now.

have yet to brake one on my own trucks . I run k30's and 35-38" tires and 8ft or 9ft snow plow on the 1 truck .

all I have ever done was ord bolt in .

and my first truck was a k10 frame with 1tons and 38" tires.

Not broke, just cracks from the steering box hole(s).
