Project "RESPAWN" - 1972 K5 Blazer

Cool stuff here!
I kind of prefer an extinguisher within reach of the driver when seated. Have you dry runned that location? How quick can you get it unmounted, pin pulled etc? I've had to grab and use an extinguisher to put out fires on my garbage truck a few times. After the first time when I struggled to get the stupid cover off the extinguisher that was a change I made. I dunno if you've ever had a vehicle fire, but if you ever do you will not regret having "practiced" at least a little...and having an optimized location is huge too!

Yeah I hear ya, I had an engine fire in an old Camaro years ago when I was 17, luckily someone driving by stopped with an extinguisher and put it out for me.

It seems most fires in Blazers are either engine or under dash fires witch would make it tough to get to an extinguisher if that part of the vehicle was already on fire. I don't run a top so getting to it should work nicely, I can always add a second one up front for extra precaution.

I have a couple of those spraycan types velcro’d to the cage by the drivers foot and the passengers as well.

Yeah, when you have a cage so many more options. :waytogo:

I like the side of the drivers seat base for a small one. If it's on fire you're gonna get out to deal wit it and it's right there you know?

My caution with that location is that if your bed is packed it will be stuck under the lip of the bed. I've had issues accessing that spot from reaching over the bedrail (luckily not for a fire extinguisher) and had to open the bed and pull things out to make clearance to pull something out of there.

So... I trimmed the 241 shifter plate down to make room for the Lokar shifter next to it.
After that I started looking for a trim ring for the 241 and found one the right size meant for a twin stick application from JB Fab.
I will end up not using the 4 pre drilled mounting holes, think I can glue some bolt heads in there to cover those holes and then drill one hole on each end to hit the bolts already there.
I think this will end up looking pretty pimp, do I even need a boot?

A boot would keep a stray object from getting into the pivot.
Just my .02.

Depends on if you want to seal any dust or splash out on dusty or wet roads/trails?

If it is I wasn't aware of that. I thought it was like my 208 shifter I sold and don't believe that was sealed on the bottom?

It's been years. It also would let drivetrain and road noise up through there with no boot I thought...
