Project "RESPAWN" - 1972 K5 Blazer

Cool stuff here!
Aaaaand as luck would have it my new rebuilt steering box is leaking from the input shaft. Is it possible I simply overfilled the fluid a bit and the excess is leaking out? I fricking do not want to replace the steering box again!!!
I wouldn't think so, and that sucks.
I'd give them a call and/or run a bottle of Lucas PS stop leak through it

Nope the ones on top are ok if they are there but do no need to be.

The idea is to insure that the nuts sits flat against the top retaining plate.... Otherwise they are raked at whatever angle the installed shims are. You can't torque a nut down effectively if it only touches on one side. :deal:

A cheaper and more effective solution is to just install a set of conical washers up top. Unless you are using a really thick set of shims, there is enough "slop" in the through holes of the top retainer plate that they won't bind up.

I believe that the only time that it is necessary to put a shim on top, is with a D60, on the right side. Since the studs don't rotate on the housing, as a u-bolt can. Otherwise the U-bolt doesn't know what is going on below the spring.
That's why ORD sells a 3 pack of shims for D60 applications.

Truck is simply living out its name. You should have named it, "Comfort, sanity, and cheers"!

Soo, are Moog ES2026R & ES2027L the correct and best drag link ends to get for a 72 Blazer?

I love discovering little PO gems... found this one after I removed the rear seat, it appears the PO simply vented the tank right into the cab.

Is it supposed to go into one of these? What are the 3 that should be there as nothing is connected? (note to self, power wash the mud off)

It's time......

Get yourself a copy of the GM FACTORY ASSEMBLY MANUAL. :deal:

Yes, that 3 input gizmo is the factory breather dealio.... the proper routing and tank connections are all laid-out in the assembly manual. But basically the tank and filler neck all connect to that tube so that the venting is correct and the fuel nozzle detects a full tank and shuts-off properly at the pumps.

One hose in that "triple dealy" goes to the tank vent, another hose goes to the charcoal canister in the engine bay, and the third dead ends up in the middle of the the metal tube "fume canister" that should be right above the thing up in the bed on the drivers side.

Installed new drag link ends and adjusting sleeve, seems to drive "fairly" decent now, thinking about changing out tie rod ends and steering stabilizer so everything is new.

I had CK5 Jr. take the tire off for me... later he was quoted as saying "That was kind of fun".

Got rid of the brown paint on the passenger door like I did earlier for the drivers door. The passenger side has more scratches and a little bit of surface rust but at least now I can see what I'm working with.

I still can't believe someone would do that crappy brown paint job over that nice blue. They didn't even do a good job at it.
