Project "RESPAWN" - 1972 K5 Blazer

Cool stuff here!
If a LS is gonna happen eventually, get some fresh ac Delco plugs, gapped and slam them in. Variance from the average isn't great but it ain't horrible like a dead hole. I've run worse.

One of them is Part #D447, the other is # D470...:D

One a more serious note, is one of them a premium line? Delco has several quality levels they sell now.

D470 has the word aftermarket in the description so will probably stay away from that one.

Finally got around to replacing the motor and trans mounts with Energy suspension parts. The Blazer seems a little more "tight" with slightly more engine vibration which is acceptable. The factory left mount was broken in half when I purchased the Blazer so nice to finally have them replaced.

Tell me I'm not the only one that does this: I was all done with replacing the mounts and was putting away the tools thinking that wasn't "to" bad of a job when suddenly I see a gold tension plate laying on the floor... son of a bitch! :doah::yikes::doah:.
Quickly look at the mounts, yep forgot the drivers side plate and had it on the passenger side. And just as suspected it took 3 times as long to line up the frame to mount holes as it did the first time. I wasn't even drinking!

Been there...when something seems to come apart and go back together "too easy",that is the tip off you effed something up!..

I once rebuilt a Q-jet and after I put it back on the engine and started it up,it immediately flooded BAD,almost caught the engine on fire..

I took it back off, brought it back in the garage, put it on the workbench ,to take it back apart...and saw the float sitting next to it..:doah:

Another day I wasn't feeling too great and I had to take the brake caliper off my truck to get the rotor & spindle off to replace an axle U-joint..took me about 5 hours to get the thing all back together, and after I finished I decided to take it for a test ride while I was still grubby and hadn't put my tools away ,in case I did something wrong..

I never made it to the street--first time I applied the brakes at the end of the driveway,I heard a horrible grinding noise and it shuddered to a stop...put it in reverse, backed it up where it was when I worked on it,took off the front right tire--and it took me a minute or so to figure out what happened...
I put the inner brake pad in, with the steel side facing the rotor..:doah:...:surepal:

I was dead on my feet during the whole day,now I had to take the caliper off and flip the pad around..at least that only took 10 minutes--I feared it was the front diff or the u-joint I just installed making the "new noise"..

Did the engine mount wrong with my impala once. But at the time I had gone through the engine and trans swap like 3 times in 6 months using unknown parts. Said screw that again and bought a whole caprise that was running good and just swapped on the whole drivetrain. Sold it a few months later to get my 72 blazer. Best trade out I ever did.

Seems like a little thing, but holy cats does it ever make a big difference! Nice work!

Looks good. Just cleaning the inside of mine did a huge amount of difference. Fresh white would help a lot more. Just haven’t gotten to it yet. Gotta find the time to take it back off to repair some bolt holes that broke off as well.

So, I went to change the fluid on my NP241 and about 5.5 - 6 qt's of ATF came out, oh crap. First thing I thought of was a bad seal? Is the seal on the t-case side?

I need to drive this tomorrow and other things coming up so I was thinking just fill er back up and drive on for now. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Thinking of putting the drain plug back in filling it up and checking the trans level, if the tranny is low then it obviously drained into the t-case.

Leave the T-case empty for a few weeks and drive around. If it's full next time you check it, the transmission is leaking into it.

You're welcome.
