Project "RESPAWN" - 1972 K5 Blazer

Cool stuff here!
I have about 1/2" on either side of the tire, a guy could probably fit a 36" tire laying flat with the rear seat mounted 5" forward.

Removed the old dash pad today, had to remove the light switch to get to the last bolt, so somehow broke the light switch, always something. LOL

I have the new dash pad installed, it was a dashes direct brand purchased from Summit Racing. The dash quality wise was decent but not perfect, it had a small manufacturing line that ran the entire front of the dash, not really noticeable once installed though as it's facing the windshield. All the studs lined up with the holes in the dash perfect and it laid flat. The front 4 screw holes were off however so I had to just push the screws through the rubber were they needed to be.
No hardware came with the dash, my understanding was that it should have been included.
I ended up getting 10/32 ss nuts with a built in flange that were much nicer than the speed nuts that would have been included anyway.
While I was screwing in one of the front 4 screws trying to make a new hole in the dash the screw fell over and I of course put a long scratch in the center of the dash above the radio with the screwdriver.
So now I have to fix that scratch somehow while I wait for the new light switch to get delivered... but the dash pad is installed.

OK, installed an OEM rebuilt tilt column made for a automatic floor shifter that I purchased about 3 years ago.
I also picked up a 15" OEM style steering wheel and slapped that on.
I had to do some research to figure out what horn button parts go where and in what order so will document that order here.

The old column with no longer needed indicator and shifter holes with 80's Camaro steering wheel.

You mentioned you found a good how-to video from Brothers. Can you post that?

It was more for repairing the turn signals but did address that the spring goes on first "before" the turn signal cancel cam, a lot of videos they put the spring on after.

Forwarded to 17:01 for horn assembly

@CK5 what's your impression of it all?
I installed one of those steering wheels in my '72 C10 after having a flatter style wheel like the Camaro one that you had.
The wheel rim moving back towards me was different after so many years.

And did you test the horn? Mine had a poorly made spring plate that didn't spring back!! Stuck the horn on!!!
I used an old OEM one that I had after that.

Horn works perfect! I will let you know how I like it after I drive it a little while. It started raining after I finished up, need to see if the steering wheel needs centered or not.

I love the four spoke wheel as I’ve got a z28 version on my Nova with the thicker rim, but on trucks it’s out of place. I like the smaller stock wheel a lot.

I prefer the Camaro wheel, but I understand the appeal of the factory steering wheel. Looks nice!

Updated the original post with a quick video will post it here as well, horn works, turn signals cancel correctly etc. The steering wheel appears to be about 1/2" closer to me so not even noticeable, it's possible I installed the new column a little further in but I think it's pretty close to where the old one was.

Good to see that it all went well! My horn spring probably could have been a fluke problem even though it was a new kit for the horn button.
My aftermarket steering wheel and adapter hub was possibly different than the Camaro wheel, not that it matters since you are pleased with the results!
