Project "RESPAWN" - 1972 K5 Blazer

Cool stuff here!
Very possible. Honestly, I would expect to see the rubber jumper hose from pump to module split. That would explain the low psi and the pressure drop after shutoff. I wanna say the last three out of four pumps I pulled had that issue. Obviously I can’t gaurantee that guess, but I’ve seen that 99% more times than the tbi unit.
I did watch a video a few days ago and he had the split jumper hose problem as well.

Had that on mine. Tore my hair out chasing a vapor lock issue and it was a split hose the entire time.

Only reason I looked since the pump was under a year old was due to the fact I had to drop the tank to install a hitch. Figured if the tank has to come down and I was having issues I might as well throw a pump at it. Lo and behold when the sender came out of the tank the hose was pushed into an almost kinked position and split.

That chunk of hose was new with the pump. But I did notice that the pump had slid down on the sending unit which pushed the hose into that kinked position.

As much as it sucks to drop the tank I’d rather drop it than dump money on a new tbi unit.

OK, just dropped the tank, the tube appears to be good no cracks etc.
The pump is a Delphi might be stock?
According to the measurements this tank appears to be a stock 31 gallon GM TBI tank out of a Suburban or Blazer just flipped around so the neck is on the driver's side instead of the passenger side?

Since I have it out I'm going to replace with Walbro 255 and new sending unit.

What are your thoughts on what the tank is?

Another question for you guys, my gas gauge has always been a 1/4 tank off. It is a 1/4 past full when I fill up and it is bone dry while showing 1/4 tank left.
Stock 72 fuel tank is a 21 gallon tank and I have a 31 gallon tank from an 89, is this why my 72 gauge is a 1/4 tank off or is it something else?

I'm going to measure the depth of the tank and the float and see if they match up.

Think I found the gauge issue...

The float (at the lowest point) to the top of the sender is 9-3/4"
The bottom of the tank to the top of the tank is about 10"

So with the tank empty the float was about 1/4" from hitting the bottom of the tank.

Is this the pump I need? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/vpn-gca758-2

Also, any suggestions for a new sending unit? Summit has a ton of options.

I get the delco sending units if you need a new sending unit. Without searching back through the whole thread, I forgot what EFI you have? That will determine the pump, that pump you selected is a good high pressure pump for EFI, it's the one I sell for EFI up to nearly 700 HP NA, but it wouldn't be for stock TBI.

Also, the 31 gallon tank has a angle in the back, if they flipped it around the angle would be in the front and the back would stick down, are you sure you don't have a 25 gallon tank? Also, the newer TBI tanks have a baffle pan in the bottom.

I run a TBI for now but the plan is to LS swap in the future and don't want to do this twice, also I ran the Walbro 225 pump in the UAV with TBI and it ran great.
No angle on my tank, same measurements as the new 31 gallon tanks so assume that is what it is? It also has baffles in the center.

And yes, will be replacing the filler neck, it's harder than morning wood. :D

I wonder if it's a suburban tank? Every 2nd gen blazer tank I've seen was angled in the back.

I believe it is a Suburban tank as the motor/trans/tcase came out of an 89 Burb so it is logical whoever swapped the drive-train also used the tank, I thought the Burb and Blazer tank were the same though?

When I first started looking at sending units I noticed they all had a nut connection etc. which was odd but then realized they just cut the ends off mine to use hoses, probably because the tubes are now facing backwards due to the fuel filler being on the drivers side and needed the extra length to wrap around and go back in the opposite direction.

Then I came across this video where they did the same thing but just cut the nuts off some how and left the knurl which is better, then everything started to make sense on what was done.

Fast forward to 41:43
