Project Snow Bear K20!

I will say, I still want fuel injection for the altitude changes here. So if I go this route I gotta figure out a TBI setup for this monster. I won't have the money to go Sniper or the equivalent for now.

No reason a factory 7.4L TBI system won’t work. They are gutless but functional

I wouldn't call them gutless.
And there are lots of mods to get more out without too much $$$
Based on some guys I’ve known who pulled the TBI off and went with an aluminum intake and a Holley, the TBI is pretty gutless.

Some of those mods are helpful, but not throw it away better helpful

Let's not get carried away. Isn't a done deal and I don't know the specs on the engine. Supposed to be very healthy, that's all I know...

It would come to me carbed ready to install. I would most likely let it stay that way until the truck is back together. Scrounging parts for the fuel injection until that time. Not really looking for fuel economy per say but I do intend to drive the truck and not just look at it in the driveway. So it needs to perform. I just foresee a big rumbly big block being a better engine for an already heavy truck that needs to pull a trailer. I'm guessing curb weight to end up in the area of 7500 lbs. Loaded.
The NV4500 should help exponentially on fuel mileage as well. At least keeping the RPM's in the realm of reality for efficiency.

Dude, the deals you find. Amazing. Good on you, nice to see someone on the good side of a deal once in a while.

You better start investing in lottery tickets, you are sure to win something.

Just drag that big block home and when Eric and I come up and see you, i'll trade you straight across for my 350 :waytogo: I'll probably need the 454 to drag all the squarebody stuff we can't leave without home from your local scrap yard.

I head hunt trucks for buyers down south. So I see a LOT of good deals, all the time. The problem is having money at the right time to get them. This one won't cost me a dime, just an even trade. I can promise you, if you guys decided to come up just send me a list of what you want/need and I'll have it lined up for you. No problem at all It's what I do.

Sadly no money tree grows in my yard so I usually never find the great deal when i have the disposable cash.

Montana Road trip is on my list for the year, let's talk serious after it warms up a little.

OK, so you guys can now jump to all sorts of conclusions. The big block is now a done deal. Got the spec sheet on it today and it's brand new. Small Towing RV cam but it's a full roller setup. MSD distributor, edelbrock dual plane intake and edelbrock aluminum water pump. Compression was PERFECT. 9.50:1 ratio. I'm taking it and running. It's a 73 casting number 454 that has been bored 30 over with forged Pistons. AND IT'S ORANGE.... You bunch of animals.

I'm on the look out now for a 32 spline input for my ford NP205. That is the last piece missing from having everything I need to fully assemble my drivetrain besides a set of headers but I'm not counting that. The ford 205 bolts right up to the NV 4500. Way easier than I thought it would be.

I like and agree with your choice man!! The ls will pull the weight but having both and towing the same load with both back to back, the big block just does it sooo much more comfortably.. sounds like you got a dang good combo to start! Plus big blocks sound better!
