Project Snow Bear K20!

Wrenching outside in the snow brings the suck. You are dedicated to get so much done while dealing with that. Nice progress.

For us here if it's 30 degrees it's like summer time. Today it was 28 and sunny. I did most of the work today in a long sleeve shirt. The hottest it has ever been here is 79.

Lol yep here too. I was in a coat at 8 am when it was 6 outside but by 10 it 30 ish. Coat came off gloves came off. Plowed my neighbors driveway in a t shirt and jeans. It seems odd but when winter is cold 30 degrees while its sunny mine as well be 75 degrees!

Our forecast is a slow curve to 40 degrees. That's all I care about. Above freezing and I'm good to go. I'll have this project nearly finished by the time the weather is nice again. Then I can paint it!

Well Montana threw me another curve ball this morning. Got a lot done yesterday was looking forward to getting the cab off and start cleaning the frame today. Woke up ready to get after it for a few hours and it's snowing hard core. Foiled again. Tomorrow looks better but it might be Tuesday before I can get anything else done. I hate delays.

While I'm stuck in the house I'm still giving thought to the fuel tank situation. I really want to loose the saddle tanks but I don't have a lot of options if I do that. The rear PTO winch is going to eat up all the available space back there. I don't like the idea of having a fuel cell eating up bed space but that might be my only solution besides adding an early tank behind the seat or something. I don't want that either. I am starting to wonder about elevating a fuel tank over the frame rails and possibly sneaking the driveshaft for the PTO under it but I have not measured for it and I am not optimistic. Possibly dropping it a few inches and elevating the tank to get the driveshaft in ABOVE the tank. This is the most likely option. Then there is the option of welding a tube through the fuel tank for the PTO driveshaft.

That would be interesting.

If I bought a new unused tank I really don't think it would be a big deal to do. Even with a clean stock tank. I've actually seen it done, it's absolutely possible. The only worries are that if the driveshaft for the PTO grenades inside the tube there is a risk of tank rupture. Other than that it's fairly easy to do. I have a parts suburban that has a good fuel tank that I could certainly play with or possibly use. It was just diesel so I'm sure it has an inch of sludge in it.

Six inches of snow yesterday and last night. I'm going to get out and shovel it off the Snow Bear and try to get some work done. Supposed to have a local friend coming to help today but he's stuck in billings so it might be tomorrow. I think I can at least get all of the cab and steering bolts out to make it ready to remove. Then the fun can really begin. Dropping the fuel tanks to send out to be cleaned and pressure tested. One was working just fine but the other wasn't used and I need to know why. Still pondering on getting another style of tank in there. I really want to loose the saddle tanks.

All that snow and working outside must be annoying. I'd be losing everything in it if it snowed that often!

Well hopefully things will change this coming season. I have a shop here but it's barely large nough to fit my dozer which is a much higher priority than my project truck. I'm hoping to build a new pole barn this season to house the dozer out of the weather and then I'll get my shop back for projects. Until then I am dealing with what I have. I don't let it bother me much. I just keep moving forward.

Just found out I have to go over to Spokane Washington to help a friend finish up his construction project so I'll be on hold for a week or two. Bright side is I'll have a big sack of money when I come back to get some of the things I have been needing for the truck build. Hoping it only takes a week then I can get back and get my project on wheels....literally.

I'm still over here in Spokane working but I am looking at fuel injection systems online. Fast, Holley sniper and Fitech are on the top of my list for healthy big block. I would like to have some suggestions if you guys have them. Right now I am researching the Fitech and digging what I see there. Has to be under 1,000.00 is my only constraint. FIre away.

I have installed 3 snipers this year and they are really nice overall. No complaints. As long as they meet your power levels you will probably like it.
