Cool to see another Jersey guy on here.... When you bring it back, if you do, come to the Rausch Creek run :D

I take it you are planning on keeping the SM465 for when you build the doubler?

i hear ya yeah ive been trying to plan something over christmas break. tow the truck home, be with the family, :xmas: wheel at rausch, ring in the new year and then tow her back to ohio. got a buddy with a 96 bronco back home we always get a lil competitive between trucks.

ok so has anyone turned down there dually 60 hubs to a srw? getting ready to do it soon and wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks. soon as i do this im then gonna be spending an hour or two grinding down the calipers for the 15inch rims. :grind:

sanding bondo sucks!

small update but took what felt like forever to finish. got the hood all finished up. a body guy wouldnt be too impressed but i like it. finished the bondo and sanding then primmed and painted it in the usual RustOleum flat black so touching up scratches is easy. looks alot better and more like a blazer again.

trying to do what ever i can right now without spending the $$$ budget is tight. i did see a pic somewhere of a blazer with the hard top shortend to just above the backseat passengers head. thought this would be neat to try as i have a top with no windows in it. when i do the cage i was planning on haveing the spare mounted up on the rear of the cage in behind the tailgate but up high enough to have use of the bed so fitting the top would not be possible but if i shorten it then it might. so im thinking about toying with this idea only issue is finding windows will be next to impossible anyone have any suggestions?

I used polycarbonate (lexan) for for one of the windows in my top and for a back window. It's shatter-proof, can be cut to any size with a jigsaw, and still fits in the weather strip.

Any sign supply place should be able to get it for you. It was about $100 for a 4x8 sheet a 3 or 4 years ago.

thats a good idea i have to check things out here locally to see what the availability is.

Why do you want to shorten the top?

Martin
i plan on having the spare tire mounted on the back of my cage along with two jerry cans and a high lift all this and still have room under it for the gas tank to be in the bed and more storage. tryin to fit all that under the top with a 40in or so tire will just be too tight and access to items will be a pain.

for example not similiar to my truck but it gives you the concept of how the spare will be positioned.

ok been a while since i got the chance to work on the blazer but my daily driver (ford powerstroke :doah: ) had a streak of breakdowns that i had to fix. apparently zf 6 speeds are known for splitting clutch forks in half who knew..:dunno:

but anyways cleaned out the garage and pulled the blazer in tonight but i decided to mess with the topper idea i have with a "junk" blazer cap i have.

cut the section out

two sections pushed together and bolted down i cut and measured so that none of the boltholes had to be changed.

i like the idea so im leaving it for now threw a beat 42" tsl on the back just to get a glimpse of how it will turn out. i think the cage bars running out the back of the topper and angling down will make it look sweet. but for know im gonna go get some fiberglass and start working the two halfs into one.

i then pulled it into the shop remover all four tires and lowered her down on the jack stands. i noticed an issue pulling it in. apparently the motor mounts loosened up and the motor dropped enough to where the harmonic balancer is rubbing the engine crossmember. anyone had to deal with this before? i dont believe it is common..

started off by dropping the gas tank to relocate it. this will also make it alot easier to do the shackle flip which i will also be completing. i have a decent laundry list to complete before it gets pulled out of the garage again.
after getting the tank down and dealing with ancient mud i discovered some structural problems that are gonna be a pita to fix.
these are shots of the tailpan.

this crack has appeared on both sides and is not easy to get to... any suggestions would be great!
then i moved the tank to the bed and called a quits for the night.

Damn man if you ever go down there again let me know... always find some good stuff down there

Is it just me, or is that a DRW 60 on the front? Like the top btw, I seen one like that locally and always thought that was very cool.

thanks! yeah i really wasnt sure bout it at first but once u back up and take a look i knew it was probably gonna stay

its a blast for sure except everytime i touch it my wallet shrinks.... weird:dunno:

:D as long as its fun.

got a little more done tonight. pulled the front hubs apart and off the truck. its amazing how much water can get in these things when the 60 has only been under the truck for one trip. marine grease was a good choice for sure bearings are still in good shape.
