Are you going to run the current valve stems or change them? I found with my rock rings the 45* elbow some people use were gonna be a pita, I ended up drilling the holes round and using some big truck style valve stems approx 2" long brass or copper and I bent them to a 90* angle, they are easy to get to and are completely protected. I can take a pic if you want.
Yeah josh if u could post a pic I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with mine yet

snow...

well spent an hour cleaning off the snow and ice on the blazer after work and fired it up. flexed on a snow pile for fun.

steering was crazy loose so pulled up to the garage to check it out and found this.

prime example of why you should always nut and bolt a wheelin rig every so often.
also got some goodies in the mail

winch fairlead license plate cover
the brake rebuild kit for my 8274 warn winch
tree saver strap
handle holder for hi-lift jack (hi-lift will be showing up on friday)
4 very small clevis, pic below shows why you shouldnt order something without reading the fine print.... turns out these where alot smaller then i thought. :doah::doah::doah:

put the insurance back on it tonight so i can drive it to work tmw in the snow and not have to worry bought getting stuck :waytogo:

progress

made some progress!
Got my ruffstuff steering components installed. this stuff is definitely beef.

installed a new wiper motor. this was an absolute pita!! first issue was figuring out a way to mount it. the engine cage made it impossible to mount it stock so i clocked it and drilled new holes.

next up was wiring. these gm wiper motors use a constant hot and two grounds running through the switch. on terminal is grounded for high speed and both are grounded for low speed. i only wired in the high speed as low is useless as far as im concerned.

the middle wire in the plug is run to a constant hot. (yellow black)
the top wire is run to ground for high which i just used a simple toggle to turn on and off. (yellow)
the bottom wire would be grounded along with the top wire to operate low speed.
i plan on wiring in the washer pump to a momentary toggle switch next.

got some more parts!!!:woot::woot:
ruffstuff's antiwrap kit

got my pvc inserts and recenters from trailworthy fab.

im worried about not being able to keep the recenters true to the rim when i go to weld them in... anyone have any suggestions?? im thinking someway to spin them and use a dial indicator to keep watch but im just not sure how.

thats all for now more to come this week

Where did you get a wiper motor with the pump attached?

Where did you get a wiper motor with the pump attached?

Came like that. Just ordered a 2 speed motor for a 78 Chevy and it comes with the pump. Its the part covered in black plastic on the top of the motor in my previous Pics. Its a suction pump so u can just run a line into any container fill with washer fluid.

Is that a 2 speed high and low pump without the automatic set back at the bottom of the window feature? It looks exactly like the pump I should've got when I bought mine last week. Do you have a part number/ what store is it from?

Its a two speed high low and it does have auto park but I don't have it wired in. I can have the part number for you when I get home from work and I got it from advance auto. So no garauntee on how long it will last.

got the part number here from advance auto

40-180

this is for a 2 speed wiper motor out of a 78 chevy truck/blazer/burban

snow

well the recent snow has allowed me to earn some extra cash plowing. burnoutmore k5 money!:saweet:
got a Hobart 140 mig welder on the way from amazon along with a powermaster 140 alternator and the rest of the parts i need to refurbish my winch! needless to say come spring the blazer should be pretty capable with just a few (expensive) additions still to be made. once the mig gets here this saturday ill be welding my h1's and antiwrap bar. didnt want to use the tig for this stuff because it would be pushing the welder being that i can only run off of 110 right now. gonna have to run 220 to the barn soon:doah:

Awesome build :waytogo: I always like a budget build. For your hydro assist surplus center is a good site I bought everything for my setup: hoses, ram, diy4x cap for my steering box, jegs power steering cooler all for less then 200. The hoses and ram were about 100 from surplus center. A member on here kay86k5 is actually who i got the info from and he drives his on the street and loves it.

Got my recenters welded in finally!

gonna cut out the old centers tomorrow night and hopefully have my rock rings by the end of the week.

updates updates updates!

So in my final push for rausch i skipped out on a few updates. got my H1 beadlocks finished up and mounted the boggers up. really really happy with how they turned out!:thumb:

Next up was the anti wrap bar from ruff stuff. Harbor freight had a big sale a lil while back so i figured i would give there tubing notcher a shot. its supposed to be mounted onto a drill press but i found that a vice works just fine. excuse the mess on the bench. shop was a bit confusing trying to get three different rigs ready for rausch.

for the $40 i spent on it i was extremely impressed. notched both tubes in short time and didnt have a problem cutting through with the hole saw. just made sure to use some cutting oil.
the anti wrap bar

i ended up running out of time to install the anti wrap bar before the trip so ill have more info on that later on.
more shots with all the beadlocks mounted up.

picked up a full cap in good shape for $50 to keep the truck somewhat warmer for the trip. i do like the half cap but i did miss how it looks with a full cap.

made it to rausch
the group

all in all the trip went decent but i did run into a few issues. right off the bat i had a hub that wouldnt engage. Josh (JT512) came to the rescue with a replacement hub. Thanks again! late on i threw one u-joint in the rear driveshaft on trail 20. wasnt to big a deal to fix. popped a new ujoint in, moved about 20ft farther up the trail and ripped the steering box off the frame...:doah: this is the second time even with the ORD steering box brace. sheered two bolts and pulled the threads out of the box on the other too. Thanks to josh (JT512)yet again:thumb: who had two bolts just the right size i was able to get the box back on and used two nuts to hold the box on. before next trip Hydro assist will be orderd and installed along with ORD's Frame repair kit. Even though amazingly my frame actually isnt cracked, i still want to add the kit to reinforce the frame even more. ended up throwing another u-joint in my front driveshaft on the way back to the trailer.
pic of where i was when the box came off

another shot

everyone lending a helping hand while i was working on fixing it..

another angle

couple shots of the truck flexed with the weight of a full cap on the rear.

as you may have noticed i had to run half the trip with my hood held down with a ratchet strap. while we where celebrating birthdays and trying to extract a wrecked jeep yj from the quarry my dad decided to sleep on my hood and it buckled in the middle. it refused to line up to the latch again... :dunno: this lead up to my current project. i have always liked how the dove nose looked but in the long run it has been more of a pain then anything else. always rattling around and the fenders really had no structural integrity after being cut so much. i also found a full front clip from a friend for cheap in good shape so the blazer is going back to a full front end.
away with the old

in with the new

it is not bolted in just set down for looks. gonna pull it back off to make life easier for when i go to do the hydro assist.
i also will be installing diy4x's poly motor mounts being that the stock mounts are shot.
ive had ideas buzzing through my head on sectioning the fenders to keep the body lines so im thinking about giving it a shot
taping off the fender

thats as far as ive gotten so far. stay tuned for more updates!

Also have two more rausch trips that i am trying to put together during the next few months. dont have set dates yet but i will be sure to post when i do!

Also got my hands on a factory rear roll bar for the blazer. Little bit better protection at least until I can start my cage
