Looking good man. Out of curiousity, where are you getting the tube and what are you paying for it? What length sticks are you getting, 20 footers?

how many feet of tubing and how many beers ya want to make a duplicate?:D:bow:

I bought 132 feet and used just about every inch. Im going to buy two more length of 2", 2 lengths of 1 3/4, and one or two lenghts of 1 1/4 for the custom dash. I still might taper the nose so I wont do a front bumper til I decide what Im doing up front. It might look funn without the tail being tapered though. I want a driver. I want to drive to the trail, wheel it, and drive home.

See post 24 as far as me doing a cage. :D

Thanks man, I bought tube from Totton Tube in Azuza. I paid $3.02 pr foot for 2" X .125 wall DOM DOMESTIC tube. The lengths were 22 footers. I spicifically wanted Domestic, you can get import for cheaper but not by much and I refuse to use inport tube.

Looks good. I have always been impressed with your attention to detail. Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much, I appreciate all the props from everyone. The attention to detail is the machinist in me. I WILL have More tube this Friday. I wont be able to work on it this coming weekend (BUMMER!) But Im all over it asap.

That's cheap, 2" .120" DOM tube is about $4.50 here.

I picked up some more tube today. I bought one 22 foot length of 2" X .12 wall DOM @ $3.44 per foot.

I also bought two 20' 6" lengths of 1 3/4 X .12 DOM @ $2.93 per foot.

And lastly I bought one 19' length of 1 1/4 X .12 DOM at $2.12 per foot.

I spicifically asked for Domestic tube. I know for fact the 2" tube is Domestic cause it has all the Spec info and "MADE IN USA" on the tube. I believe the 1 1/4 is but there is no markings on the tube and Im not sure on the 1 3/4. There is no markings on the 1 3/4. Either way Im using it regardless. Planning on some progress pics asap.

I paid $3.02 per foot for the last batch of 2" tube but that was for 6 22 foot lengths of tube. So $3.44 for one piece is an AWESOME price.

how hard is it to bend 2'' .120 dom w/ that manual bender and that long handle? do you ever find your feet sliding as you pull on the handle, or have to repeatedly ''jerk'' the handle(putting your body weight into it) or is it fairly easy and just gets tiresome after alot of bending?

Inquiring minds want to know, (especially since i'm about to buy a bender myself). :D

Let me tell ya, Im 180lb and I have 7 feet of leverage.........it aint easy. I have to jerk on every pull and lean WAY back. It has been a great work out :doah:. You bet I want to do a hydro conversion. I just did not want to get into the conversion and have it take forever, then stop cage progress for God knows how long.

not to mention hydro is VERY expensive. ;)

i used marvspringer's tube bender one time, to bend one piece of tube to see what it was like and it was a work out, but i think that pushing it was much easier than pulling. probably better for your body too.

I prefer to pull, if you ever let go of the handle while your pushing it, it will wip back at you and probably break some ribs or knock some teeth out. Its under a hell of alot of force. You can see in the first pic of my bender the end Aluminum solid bar extension. It inserts into the Aluminum tube by about 6 inches. It is not set screwed in place. I did not feel the need to lock it in place.

I let go of the handle once for some damn reason and I shot that solid bar across the alley like a bullet. If it had not hit my truck bumper it would have went 40 feet before it hit the ground.
