Was in my hand when I pulled the core support. I hate dropping tools on the floor.
I don't like them on the floor either, I just thought it looked strategically balanced on the tip against the fender, must be a small hole there?

I finally feel like I made a little progress today. After making this bracket 3 times, it is in its final configuration. It is tight and solid and perfectly line up with the existing serpentine system.

The big quest is, do I need to add and idler pulley between and to the right of the compressor and alternator to get more belt engagement?

Make sure you keep (or increase) the belt engagement for the alternator at the same time, that will be more likely to slip.

I guess what I am saying is go around the alternator then the idler then the compressor then back to the crank. Don't put the idler between the compressor and crank in the belt routing.

You were probably already planning to do this knowing you Wade.

I believe I remember having a couple idlers on my 05 trailblazer with the 4.2 I6 if you need something to look up and see the part.

I just took the alternator bracket off to final weld and media blast it for paint. The the AC compressor would be done. I was putting it back on, nothing lined up. I start looking at a previous picture and realized the bracket had been on the engine in the wrong position the entire time I was making the brackets. Time to mount it correctly and start over. 2 days lost. After this, I really wonder what else is wrong throughout the truck.

I only have the picture to look at, I can't point at anything and says its wrong. You sure you put it back correctly. Mind playing tricks, I know mine has recently, I messed with my high blower and f'd it up, mostly becuase I was rushing it.

What you can not see in he last picture posted is, the top bolt on the bracket that mounts to the intake manifold front bolt is 3 inches higher than the manifold. How I did not see that I do not know. Everything I did for the compressor was done below and attached to that bracket. Took it off to add the idler pulley and clean up. Put it back on correctly and just sat down in despair.

The bracket is in correctly now. Going to see what I can salvage.

Eileen has had 5 people stop by and check on me today. So progress has been slow.

This is how it sits now.

Notice the angle of the compressor.

Before I removed the alternator bracket, this what it was before removal.PXL_20220511_205804636.jpg

The alternator bracket was mounted at the alternator base bolt as the rear bracket is mounted to the block and head correctly. The front bracket was rotated at the rotation bolt. These 2 bolts only had the lower in, but in the upper hole with a spacer to align it. Second bolt was deleted.

PXL_20220514_224527710.jpg This bolt hole was 3 inches or so high and not lined up. But I was working below and did not notice it.PXL_20220514_224522684.jpg I realized it was jacked up when I went to put it back in, and it hit me that I never removed that manifold bolt.

Make sure you get rid of all that old dry rotted fuel hose!
