Or my 5.3It’s not a six-too…
I have pieces of my original 82 on 4 trucks right now and it’s amazingWent blah, run, blah, run then nothing. It tried to start a couple of times as I cranked it. Then nothing. I had put 15 gallons of gas in it after it ran out in the shop. Eileen brought me 5 gallons. Cranked it until the battery slowed a bit. Called the hook.
First check was spark. None. I did find a possible low power and slight vibration under load issue. #6 plug wire was just hanging on the plug.
At least the distributor is easy to get to.View attachment 444758
Checked power to the coil. Good.
So I figured I would pull the coil off of Eileen's Corvette for testing. Then I remembered the my dad had a couple of new distributors in the boat stuff.
Put the new cap/coil on. No help.
Changed rotor. No help.
Changed the ignition control module. View attachment 444759
It didn't even crank a full revolution before it fired.
So, now dad is a part of Fugly.
More stuff to keep in the truck.
Eileen's Corvette had that issue until I made wires for it.Isn't that the second time a plug wire has been found hanging ??
Might change the AFR reading at idle.
I always did spark plugs on these from the wheel well.
That is one thing ford got right. Distributor at the front.Went blah, run, blah, run then nothing. It tried to start a couple of times as I cranked it. Then nothing. I had a buddy with a Bronco and it wouldn't go through mud puddles without periodically spraying WD-40 in the distributor.Until you hit a puddle...or went to adjust the timing a little while it was running and had the fan chew on your arm a little.
I need that like I need a hole in my head.I have better heads and a .550” lift cam
Or slap on something else. You did have tamper proof idle mixture screws, someone cut the base to remove the plugs. you need https://thexton.com/product/gm-carb-adjustment-tool-350/ to adjust them. Hmm looks updated the one I have has gray plastic nut that sides to one side or the other.
You own a tonka truck with a freaking spoiler. Another hole in your head is kind of a given at this point.I need that like I need a hole in my head.
