I am wondering if the float level is to high. Cause spill over when going up hill.

Went blah, run, blah, run then nothing. It tried to start a couple of times as I cranked it. Then nothing. I had put 15 gallons of gas in it after it ran out in the shop. Eileen brought me 5 gallons. Cranked it until the battery slowed a bit. Called the hook.

First check was spark. None. I did find a possible low power and slight vibration under load issue. #6 plug wire was just hanging on the plug.

At least the distributor is easy to get to.PXL_20230417_235528876.jpg

Checked power to the coil. Good.
So I figured I would pull the coil off of Eileen's Corvette for testing. Then I remembered the my dad had a couple of new distributors in the boat stuff.

Put the new cap/coil on. No help.

Changed rotor. No help.

Changed the ignition control module. PXL_20230417_235912163.jpg

It didn't even crank a full revolution before it fired.

So, now dad is a part of Fugly.

More stuff to keep in the truck.

I wonder if it's starving for fuel, especially after seeing the AF info Wade posted earlier.

Isn't that the second time a plug wire has been found hanging ??

Might change the AFR reading at idle.

I always did spark plugs on these from the wheel well.

I have pieces of my original 82 on 4 trucks right now and it’s amazing

That is one thing ford got right. Distributor at the front.

Until you hit a puddle...or went to adjust the timing a little while it was running and had the fan chew on your arm a little.
I had a buddy with a Bronco and it wouldn't go through mud puddles without periodically spraying WD-40 in the distributor.

Way back, when I forded the Bill Williams river on an outing with a bunch of guys in my EB, had a open element air filter, and of coarse the front distributor. Pop the fan belt off, forded the river put it back on. Other guy with open element air filter had to be pulled out of river after element turned into a sponge. 76 Scout.

Went down hill fast.

Got both of the seat bases painted.

I figured I would start looking at the tuning issues. I could not see the drivers side idle air mixture screw. EGR valve was still on the truck. So it came off with some cheater wrench assistance. Made a block off plate and gasket. Painted it.

While it is drying, I looked for the IAM screws. Drivers side is no bueno. A chunk of the carburetor is missing. I am wondering if this is one of the preset, you can't adjust it units I have heard about. I can see the passenger side screw fine. So, no.PXL_20230509_000419880.jpgPXL_20230509_000337859.jpg

I did not notice this when I was screwing with the carb on Power Tour. But I was not OK then.

So I figured I should know what heads are on it for a future carb install. I have 5 or 6 to choose from.

14092360 castings = 87 to 90 oval port. This thing is so anemic, I assumed it had peanut port heads. It seams everyone is calling them oval, yet I have found reference that these are peanut port. I am too old to figure this crap out anymore.
