RJFguitar's resto-mod - went offroad

Oh hell I'll subscribe buddy

And keep a watchful eye on this and do new rim dance so you can get rid of those weld wheels:whistle:

If it makes you feel any better, I've got 10's on my Mega Cab.:thumb: Sorry, but the deep dish Welds just flat do it for me.:D

Plan to change the oil in both differentials and get the new diff covers installed before work in the morning.

After that I'm about out of parts.... time to get classic parts on the horn....

Looks good Bobby. How did you ever skirt the smog issue? Still in the clear up north here.
Long story, but basically if you own a corporation you can get around it. If you're interested, PM me. I don't want to spill the details on a public board, big brother could be watching....:haha:

Oh it all good. I don't have to smog mine up here. Only required when you first put a vehicle in your name up here. :D I smogged mine 20 years ago. :waytogo:

I'm in on watching this one.
Classic parts does have the emblems, that is where i got mine and they are GM ones.
I will be more the happy to help with any thing on the interior I can answer, it was not easy get mine back the way it is.

I thought you had gotten rid of the K5. Glad to see you back. I love the new color but the green worked as well. I think it could have worked with any color though with the stance it has. I like the welds too. Not on all trucks mind you but yours is good.:waytogo:

hey Bob, meant to ask ya, why did ya ditch the green? just looking for a change? definitely must have added a fair amount of work doing the jambs, etc...

the green was cool, but green has always been one of those colors to me that looks cool on other peoples rides, but I'm not sure how I'd like living with it for yrs on end...

oh, one more, I forgot, what brand was your hood?

I appreciate the complements on the green, it was a unique color and it did hold up great for 20 years or so. Must have been Emron Ryoken? But..... that green paint job looked a lot better in some of those old photos of mine than it did standing next to the truck.

Besides, green is not my color at all. I honestly hated it since the day I bought it.:doah: For me it's like if you painted a vehicle crap brown.... sure... it's a unique color... but it's still crap brown.:haha:

was it a factory paint? if so, it definitely wasn't Imron....

what brand hood was that? I know you where pretty happy with the fit/finish iirc...

Pretty positive it was the factory special order color. It was a government vehicle.

It is an advantage hood. :thumb: The reason I went with that hood is because the cowl actually gets wider as it gets closer to the windshield. I always thought that was more attractive than a cowl that was say, 18" wide at the grille, and 18" wide at the windshield.

I've read where some think that cowl hoods are too obstructive to see over. What has been your experience?
It definitely makes a difference when you are trying to see really close in front of the truck, but not further out.

I remember your rig from way back when. Loved the wide rims also- went perfect with the boggers...

Care to share how much the paint job set you back and what all it included?
