RJFguitar's resto-mod - went offroad

It does look real good. What happened on those seat you were looking at?
Well, the guy wanted more than I felt willing to pay, and the back seat is kind of weird. It has two separate bun cushions that just pop into some sort of frame in the camaros and Trans Ams. Then, the backrest is also a seperate piece. I would have to build some sort of frame for the back rest and cushions. I haven't passed the idea up though.

I'm going to hit him up again in a couple of days, the CL add was fresh and he wasn't willing to budge much on the price. Two weeks later I'm hoping he might be more willing to get haggled a bit.:thumb:

No way man, you probably come in 1st place around here for the cleanest K5, ever. I just prefer mine with the molding.

Thanks, it just takes alittle more time to clean it up and make all like new again.

Great job in getting the doors adjusted. How tedious was it to get right? Mine have been off a bit for a while...thinking I'll address them spring or summer. Any helpful pointers?

Great job on your truck...looks real good.

It's kind of a pain. You have to keep adjusting the top and bottom hinge, moving the door in or out, then adjust the striker to where when it's shut the body lines are lined up.

Haven't got a whole lot done lately, but I did get the interior totally gutted, acquired nearly all of my interior parts, and still haven't made a move on seats yet.:doah:

I got a door panel on, but it's coming back off so I can install a one piece window kit. I am not a fan of wing windows.

They are pretty tuff to install huh?

More like a pain in the ass, I just hate doing stuff like that. The instructions are pretty good, but it took me most of a day to do both doors

I'd rate it about a 12-pack job I wish I had taken the doors off the truck it would have made it way easier

yellow, so would you say it's worth the $700 to be rid of the vent windows and have properly working windows?
Not a big fan of the vent windows and my windows are SLOW.
Are the window controls/parts an actual upgrade or just a direct replacement for the factory stuff?

The kit I got was nice, I would have liked to stay Manual windows but I just bought a switch that looks like a stock window crank. ( and that may be an option I bought my kit second hand)

I got a good deal on mine from a buddy who changed directions on his project so I only paid 300.00 for my kit.

but after having them I must say I really really like them. and I like vent windows to but the one piece just looks cleaner

And no matter how good the seals and how good you install them wing windows leak ,Period. They leaked when new

Well, I pussed out and ordered new felts and vent window seals for the K5. After hearing what some of the guys were saying about the structure of the door, along with the fact that you have to glue on the new felts, I was quickly having second thoughts. As I was finishing the interior in my K30 yesterday and was working on the doors, I felt like I didn't want to screw with the structure and possibly have issues with my doors.
