Rubicon trip May 13-15th 2016

I'm not going to be ready for a rubicon run in June. My July is booked between work trips and weddings.

bummer dude

I've just got to finish the gauge wiring and install my A-bomb bumper (still waiting to receive) and the truck should be fine with a good once over. If there is time, I might swap my 56s around to extend the wheelbase and modify the driveshaft. That might take extra time cause I'll need to make some shock mounts too. :( I'm not super fly like Eric to run the Rubi without rear shocks

at this point, I'm just hoping for more than two trucks otherwise July is fine.

I enjoyed wheeling with you so there has to be at least 2 of us! Damn no rear shocks was awful.

There gonna be lots of trips this year. Most importantly hitting the con with you and bb16

okely dokely. It appears that June 10th-13th is clear for the con. This may be a little early but time will tell. Also July 1st-24th is clear. Earlier then mentioned dates are either rubithon/HeepJamboree and so on.

This sounds like a cool event. I'm guna try plan on the Sat run at bear valley loop for stock/intermediate runs. If anyone else is interested post up.

Thanks weetolow for the info.

no problem. Im hoping to do the whole trail. Its the one i got stranded on last year. Itd be a good milestone for me.

I'm looking at doing something in July. At this point, having read most of this thread, I gave up on Rubicon and haven't worked on anything. I'm still waiting on my front bumper from DIY and haven't finished my gauges off. I also started in a new position and things are crazy. Plus it's salary, which I've never had, so I'm kinda on the hook to be there. Let me see. For now, I'm off to Oregon this weekend, will think harder about stuff when I get back.

I've finalized the time off and the 24th and 25th are the days I can do the trail, will any of you be able to do that? I know it's short notice but that's the nature of job. If no one can hack it, is there a resource I can use to meet up with anyone to go on the trail with in the area? Even a (gasp) jeep group would be ok.

I wouldn't want to go with just anyone. It's not an easy trail and you want friends, not strangers. I'm just looking forward to Moab right now, got plenty to do. Wish some of these North CA members would stop thinking Rubicon and start thinking Moab. Buncha sissies. You're all closer than I am too!

Hey I won't be able to make it. I wish I would love to get out on the trail! What are the specs of your rig? @K85 Octane I wish I could make moab but this year wheelin is just about out of the cards for me. Hopefully BB next year

I would recommend some rocker protection @noJeepshere

Yes.

If you want to avoid any trail rash it would be a really good idea to go into Buck island lake from the loon lake side and back out the same way. All the damage i got came from everything after buck..more or less cadillac hill.

It would also be a lot more relaxing of a trip that way and easier to get out if something does happen. Two days to run the rubicon is really difficult, especially if you want to be careful for damage. When we did it last we started at roughly 8 am, wheeled till about 6pm with minimal pit stops and pretty much repeated that the next day....thats a lot of trail time. Hell even just going to buck in one day is a lot of wheeling but reasonable at least. Stay at buck for the night then wheel back out the next day.
