Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

well, my RG hasn't shown up from that PBS place, so I went down and stole my boss's last 1/2 a can at the marina and got a piss coat on.... just shot it in 2k...

I'll scuff it and paint it in the morn.....

Looks great! :thumb:

No tabs for extra lights?

well, I'm thinking of running this 20" wide on the flat above the main tube...

and I figure I'll just use it's bracket (assuming it comes with one.), drill holes in the plate and bolt it up..

I just bought an '80 crew cab for parts...you're killing me with this thread... That thing is SICK!

thanks...

Saturday.. going down to sand and paint it now.....

tomorrow is no good as I have to go out and pick out Malakai.. but Saturday morn I should have it on....

unfortunately I'll have to wait awhile to do the light.. definitely don't have cash for that right now... later in the summer... I think that 20" is the perfect choice, it's proportioned to the opening well.. it'll have like 3" at either end to the upright, and vertically it should even up the GMC in the opening perfectly...

It's cool that you get to pick out your own dog from the litter.

When we got our Golden, the breeder had already done "disposition testing" for each dog and then selected the best fit for each family. It was kind of weird having someone else tell us which dog we would get.....as a "consumer" it seemed odd not to have any say in the matter.

Of course now, we love Murphy and think he is the "best one" of the litter anyway....so it all worked out! :)

Pics or ban, of course!

it hasn't really been discussed, but from reading her thoughts on the subject, I'm thinking that's the way she does it for pet's.... showdog's I'm guessing get a bit different treatment, your looking at different criteria...... I'm sure she probably has one in mind from my discussions of what I was looking for...

You know we expect pics right...?

everyone is... my sis is beside herself with anticipation....... :haha:

Ryoken's evening - dehydrating tasty meaty morsels...

Bumper looks great! A bit surprised you are going light bar. Should look good, but everything else seems to be older style, and in trying to wrap my head around if older style lights would look better

I'm sure whatever you figure out will look great!

Have you seen the taillights?

good point... it has popped into my brain....

originally I was gonna do the 2 rectangular pods on either side of a plate up there.... I figured the pods would look better than round due to the headlights.... bit more matchy matchy...

than when I moved the plate under, the space just screams for the lightbar..... tho pods could work too...

as to the overall look.. I think this kinda goes back to the tow lightbar discussion... beags and a few others thought the modern slim LED style would be best.. and I was really looking to get an oldschool look.... I still want that...

this is the upper i'll run...

I know the styling isn't 100% in accord with the front light, but I think it will all look good in the end... I think the lightbar up front will be a little more subdued maybe, than a couple big round honking offroad lights?

heck, I could always run a couple decent sized round ones outboard of the uprights between the 2 tubes down the road....
