Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

oh, forgot to post these... here's how the finished stand turned out.... it's fuggin stout...... made sure it's pivot is tall enough to spin a 360....

only thing I would do different is make all 4 of the wheels 360 casters, as opposed to 2... it's fine, just takes a bit more maneuvering to get it in place... next time I'm in Fazio, I'll pick up 2 and change em out...

Have you flipped it over yet? Almost died?

nope.. still have a pan full of oil.... :haha: I'm not worried about it in the least... it seems a tad tail heavy, but with the hoist, I'm sure it'll be fine... only doing it once...

Center of gravity is really close to the cylinder head. It will get ya!

yeah, i can tell... ;)

I was gonna get goofy with the pivot plate to compensate, but said "fug it" and stayed straight forward... like i said, I'll drop the back side with a chain/hoist till it bottoms out, than rotate it up from the other side..

tho... I will say, a standard hoist becomes a VERY awkward, multi-step process getting off/on the stand....... in the future, when I pull it off the stand to hang from the cherry picker for rig install, I'll stage it on blocks first using my killa alum, adjustable A-frame/chain fall I use for boat installs to get it off the stand..

Get a large drip pan and some pig mats to go under your engine. When you flip it fluids will come out of EVERYWHERE.

yup, have plenty of that stuff as a marine mechanic.. just need to check if it's wide enough for the big pan i have... good reminder, I'll do that this weekend....

won't be touching the mill for a bit at this point..

got a couple weekends to dial in Mutt for snootiness.... plus got a few house projects i need to get to...

That looks sweet! Did you weld the "box" piece in and blend or did you cut 3/4 of a rectangle out and bend that back?

thanks... it's 5 seperate pieces.. fully welded on the back... and welded/blended around the perimeter on the front...

of course the fancy mumbo jumbo loses me pretty quickly , aperture, etc...... it has a bad SD card, got a new one coming fri..

also had picked up a couple weeks ago, which i was buying anyway for my own POS camera, a 60" tripod.... the alcohol just doesn't seem to smooooth out my pic taking enough... ;)

Kai bomb......

stepped it up from the 50" cuz it could hold the DSLR's... tell you what, anything being sold under the amazonbasic moniker, is usually pretty killa at great prices..... not a ton of stuff, cables, office stuff, etc....

I've got the d60 also. I bet you'll like it. The fancy stuff is actually pretty easy to use on that camera. I enjoy it. Looking forward to seeing some superior photos of that crew cab.

yeah, I can keep it for a while, but eventually it'll have to go back... ;) long enough that I can hopefully use some of the features..... been trying to figure out some decent spots for shoots, other than ocean/beach/marina pics..... but it really requires me to spend a day "scouting" locations, have a few parks in mind......

oh, and DAYYYYYYUUUMMMM..... :( replacement bulbs for my rotators are $25 a piece.. :eek1: just ordered 2...
