Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

so, all new joints and Mutt's up running around, tho I do need to revisit timing as I got a bit greedy last week....

all the ds bed panels need to be cleaned up and reinstalled... I started stripping the ds top, big panel... from water sitting on it, life, the Sharkhide has failed in spots... recoating it...at least, for a "show" look.... I'm ok with the corrosion protection it affords on the undersides, but it is far from a suitable solution to the exposed surfaces...

I really need to consult some honest "coating experts" as to the best route once all panels are "final fit"... whether that's clear PC, anodizing, etc.... they are large panels, yada... I expect the deal to be like 5 g's to do everything (i tend to guesstimate high for happy endings) but at that point in the build, it'll be needed... it's a battle currently keeping everything tits.... :doah:

What is aluminum coated with on boats? I'm sure they have good stuff going on w/ the salt.

When's the oil burner going in...:D:p

both, are loaded questions.... ;)

marine alum can be found in many iterations, most things are powdercoated these days.... some are painted.... once in a while i'll see anodized brackets on glen-dennings synchs and such.... and "raw" tuna towers and such usually get something like sharkhide... or often coats of woody wax or similar.... I'm guessing clear PC will be the most likely route.. i just don't want to rule out other possibilities like anodizing... I'm also guessing PC will be the cheapest route.... unless i went for something like car clear....

anyways, that's a ways off.. the whole ps lower box needs to made, etc first..

I would love to say I'm taking Mutt off the road next x-mas (not the upcoming one) and have it back on the road early summer of 21.... that's the goal.... but that means i need a big Ole pile of parts by this time next yr... fingers x'd my trainwreck of a life doesn't get in the way..... :doah:  :haha:

hoping to get a pretty diligent weekend in on the rig this week... I need to wheel/polish the whole rig, than give it a thorough, hot, soapy bath.. fuggers got cobwebs going on... :doah: :haha:

also need to clean the lower box panels, bellypan, etc and prep them to go back in and start reassembling it..... that's most of the upcoming work, sucks I have to stop with the drawer light install, but I'll revisit it soon enough.... maybe this winter....

well, Mutt's not out of the woods yet... throwing code 42's... the EST timing wire has no effect on timing, plugged in, or not... changed the module, same.. starts and runs, but the ECM isn't controlling timing apparently... grrrrr......

The knock sensor affects timing. And there's a little module near the tbi on the passenger side of the intake that does too.

I haven't been reading every post so forgive me if you've cover that lol

Mutt seems to be running fine now.... got the 2 top panels stripped with thinner, resanded, and overcoated with Sharkhide... that was the biggest deal... next week i start getting the drawers, boxes, etc in, wax it, flags, yada......

about 74% on going for the actual bat system now.. gonna throw a couple "prop" #27's in there for the show.. :pimp: but I may just go for the actual install over the next few months.. it needs to be done for the swap anyway...

oh, 65 gal dizzle tank for X-Mas!!!!!!!!!! going over for the tank estimate the week after the car show.... Visa Ahoy!!!!! :saweet:

* imitation calendar, wheelin spots already on the search...*

sooooo... the funnay thing about my life..... :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: :haha:

I'm a piece 0' chit.. I have zeRo luck.. it's all good... karma and all that... my big motivation this weekend.... first time... amazon prime decided to send me a free harness for a lightbar.. cheap, like $10... +/- leads to a fuse and relay, long switch lead, long +/- lead to the lights...

"oh them drawer lights be going in now!!!!!" :saweet: :saweet: :saweet: :haha:

What kind of plans do you have for a tank?

i have a drawing... but i'm gonna recheck it this weekend, dimensionally.. it's the shape/mounting, dual 1.5" fills, a 1/2" pickup, return and standard marine fuel level hole for a non-moving part sender..... NPT drain at the bottom..

I'm going to leave the baffling up to those guys.. I have a few ideas, but I'm pretty sure they are gonna wanna hook me up pretty good....

pulled the trigger..... stooopid cool electrical schtuff coming... wait till you check this chit out... :deal: :saweet:

won't be functional for the car show obviously, but I'm gonna order bat cable this week too I think... hmmmmmm, 2/0 or 4/0? :haha:

another thing I finally got to today was getting the weatherstripping installed for the doors... they've had just a couple 1" chunks at the top, finally did it all the way around.. wow, so solid now.. I'll have to do a vid of them closing now...

note the rusting pins.... my quickie clear douche ain't cutting it... need to add that to my "coating dilema" list... ;)

now comes the fun part, the wiring diagram... ;)

first order of biz is figuring out exactly what wires need to pass thru the bat box..... the intention is to move my lightbar sub panel in there, and the winch solenoid pack.... than it will also end up with an inverter... i'm running the Heyco fittings like I ran on the K5 stuff....

but I also need to run smaller control wires to various components in there, winch, the bat switches, parallel, and all the light sub panel wires...
