Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Looks great!

Get your felts first, when it starts getting cold you're not going to want all the draftyness. Then finish the paint, then start the tube bed. :waytogo:

yup, as we all know, the rattly, whistling doors get old pretty quick.. doable, but annoying...

thanks guys.... :D

the back may or may not drop an inch or so from some pack adjustments.. i really need to get a shim back in there, the flip rolled it to point at the bearing output, surprisingly she seems quite smooth, thank god...

but I'd still like to get a better angle back there, move the axle, etc.. so maybe a custom degreed, ez inch from Kert if he can do it... if that, it'll stay that height till the tube weight gets on it.. fuel, winch and gooseneck too..

if i just run a degreed shim, i may drop it an inch... but the setup is VERY flexible at this point.. I could, and almost bought just to have on hand, is also the 4.5" x-tied shackle from Kert for more adjustment....

I'll kinda be getting the rest of the body work done as the tube bed main section is being fabbed and readied for install... that way I'm painting both items at an "install" point... as opposed to perfect Ryoken red next to raw tube, needing welding, sanding, priming, black, yada...

Your truck is ugly and you don't know what your doing....

Oopps...... Back you damn green eyed beast. I am so jealous I am still stuck on the road doing laundry. Want to finish pulling the motor on the 90 and get to tearing it down. At least I am living vicariously through you guys getting it done.

Looking sexy keep at it man.

so... it's sunday 3 pm, and I'm basically good to go for the weekend, rig's ready, tools are organized for work in the am... and the dungeon is pretty cleaned up..

oh, here's the amusing story for the day.. so I had to get that shaft back in, install the shocks and test run the truck this morn...

apparently I didn't feel the week was challenging enough... what's the first thing I do at 8 AM installing shocks? hit myself in the eye with a 7/8 wrench! doh! nice little boxers gash, probably coulda used a couple stitches...

I think a few beers are in order at this point in the day! :woot:

Umm, I may of missed it, but what are you painting with duplicolor and why are you painting with a paint that is "GARBAGE"?

eh, I needed some black for touch-up and to shoot the wheelwells, so I had my parts guy send over some semi-gloss rattlecans.. he sent duplicolor, sh*t sucks... rustoleum is like eleventy x's better...

the black powder coat.. should be here thurs..

tomorrow I'm stopping at the model shop around the corner to pick up a bottle white and black and some new brushes.. been a while since I painted miniature type stuff.. used to do battlemechs back in the day...

gonna use the Ryoken red on the bill, bloodshot eye lines and cigar end I think... it's close to the orange you'd normally see i think..

mounting i have no idea yet.. apparently it has 2 1/4 - 20 studs out the bottom.. some hood metal work, etc may be required... next weekend hopefully..

Awesome. Stoked to see it!

Edit. The hair on that painted one is so badass. Wonder what they used, or how it would hold up to DD duty. I say try something out!

Way cool. I figured the other night you wouldn't be able to wait.:haha:

:haha:

you read my mind......

the hair is just over the top cool..

it's just so outta place on a car, yet perfect..

I bet you could come up with some polyester type product that would hold up.. actually the best thing would probably be some strip of furry fabric or something that you could glue down... like fur fabric, yeah, that's it... it would need to be close to the ryoken red tho...

alright you talked me into a stealth fur mission to FABRICLAND..... :haha:

I think I'll be the first CK5'er to ever have one... :woot:

I'm just stoked I'll be able to watch people's reactions to it at intersections and such... :haha:

oh, and with this places website, etc, i figured i better jump on it ASAP , before i can't get one down the road.. it's not like buying a Sony... :doah:

I think i'd go black. It would be more subdued, and if you go orange/red, you'll be able to tell its glued on. The base for black hair would blend into the black powder coat :deal:
