Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Does Kert have the capacity to make some of these out of steel? That seems like a ton of coin for a piece of metal with some studs in it. Doesn't seem like there would be THAT much machining involved to make them:dunno:

heck, I'd be happy with just the round plate with holes drilled in it for $100 or less.. actually in 3/8 thick.. I think there's enough stud space for that....

so they have a 1/4" way, and these $300 and up 2" spacers... a 1" for $300 or so is what I'm gonna go look around for...

It just sucks to spend even that much on something temporary. I know it'll be close, but if you aren't intending to haul much/far with it you'll probably be ok for the time being.

agreed.. i'll just get the 255's, mount it all up, and see how they look.. i don't expect this to see any heavy loads for a while..

:haha:

I always like working in wood, so much easier than steel... as a skater I've built many a giant 1/2 pipe over the years in addition to my marine background..

I'm just the opposite. Give me a piece of steel rather than wood any day.

not saying I prefer it, just it's an easier medium to deal with...

I think steel is easier.

Everytime I try to heat up a 2x4 to bend it, it just starts on fire.

Couple of boards I want to put together and the welder is just useless. Can't get a good arc...:dunno:

Take of a little too much with wood and its time to start all over again.

My first job was woodworking...building rustic style furniture...from the time I was 13 to 18 years old...I ate enough sawdust to do me a lifetime...
managed to saw my thumb in half on the table saw too...good times :doah:

I keep telling my dad the woodworker that metal is easier.

"I keep cutting it and cutting it and it's still too short!" =))

wood is soft, therefore easier to cut, shape, sand, etc... boy, any convo with lumber in it just sounds wrong.... :haha:

going down to install me some mudflaps....

That is a great price except these are not made for a dually.
Dually wheels are hub centric and need spacers that are the same.
Hence the higher price, but the previous post showed a set for $320 that ARE for dually so we're on the right track:thumb:

My k35 had regular 2" spacers on it when I got it, was loaded with a tool bed full of tools on 35's for a good portion of its life.

The wood flat bed looks awesome, kind of funny to think its wood.

:haha:

alright last arse whoring.... pretty much the finished flatbed with ghey flaps and all..... now it just needs a plate....
