even with ones that are loud, and I ran a nasty Mallory comp pump and filter set up in the back of my Chevelle, and it was loud, like a Holley blue is...
it doesn't bother me, I'm an old hotrodder, I like that sh*t.. fock mang, I've got gauges on my hood...
once ya light the motor off ya can't hear it anyway.....
that being said, I do have 40 psi inline marine pumps like the carter I posted earlier at work, that are pretty damn quite.. you'd have to have your window down to hear it I would say before starting..

, have they started going to LS based engines ? Just something I've wondered about, since so many seem to be GM based power plants I was curious if companies like Merc still "made" a 350 power plant or if they were now 5.3's or something
