Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

just thought I'd post a pic of some 1 ton flip goodness from Kert for the Mutt... should be going in in a couple weeks hopefully...

the plan was to paint the hood, cowl and fender today, but I'll see, the humidity here today is off the scale...

I had that raw steel fender in green zinc in about 30 seconds today... :haha: definitely a "watch it rust" kinda day.... :doah:

hopefully tomorrow I can get the hood, fender and cowl painted.. and the drivers door swapped out...

since I'm swapping the door out, i'll rip it off first thing in the morn, than I can actually fit the rig in the garage up to the flatbed without the wide trailering mirrors on it... safe from rain for paint... than swap the painted door on...

it'd be nice to pretty much have the front 1/2, 2/3's all one color... not quite so, hoopty... :haha:

obviously being the DD, it makes these kinda projects annoying, as you can see, I said screw it and stripped the fender in place... even to get the back doors done is gonna be a bit of work.. i'll probably have to do a door, a weekend... maybe the roof another weekend... than maybe finish up with the back and back door jambs...

Got er shot up anyway! Good job man! So did the humidity play havoc with you at all? OR did it work out ok?

thanks... no humidity issues, bit of dust in the hood, but whatever, I shot it outside, it's good for now...

I actually was just gonna relax all day, felt guilty about 11am, went out and banged that out... :haha:

I'll see about getting that valance and cowl done next week.. maybe a door..

I've got 2 weekends free before I go back to mechanical's and do the lift/x-over, so I'll see how much bodywork I can get done..

but this should all time out pretty well, I'll be finishing up with the back of the cab when I'm starting the tube bed, so that should work out good...

f*ck it, I'm gonna see if I can buy a black one at some point in the next few months, that'd be so badarse on there... :pimp: :haha:

really gotta get a new grill too, black and gray...

that's all the encouragement I need! :haha:

see if I can work a bit of OT to cover the stupid price of it... :doah:

I need a bunch of new light lenses on the rig.. I see LMC has new turn signal ones up front, which i need bad...

but my sidemarker lights in the fenders are in even worse shape, practically falling apart.. I see they have these upgraded blingy clear ones at LMC, was wondering if anyone had em, or has seen em? they look like they could be cool, unlike clear taillights imo... I don't see stock full amber ones anywhere...

I've never seen em in person, but the clear side markers would be :pimp:, I might have to try a set myself :D

and here's another vote that the DPD hood ornament would be freaking sweet  :waytogo:

yeah, you know me, very traditional in my likes.. not an altezza lense, low profile tire kind of guy... but I think those lights could be cool looking, and not horrible at $35 a pair...

the turn signal ones are 65 a pair, but I'm buying em with the new grill.. I hate cloudy old lenses on a DD....

at $200, the duck hurts, but f*ck it, ya only live once... the rig already garners ton's of attention, may as well have an evil hood ornament... :haha:

Truck is looking good.

Want to come over and paint some parts for me? I managed to F*ck up painting a shackle flip, shackles and shackle frame eye hangers. There went 4 hours of work. :haha:

thanks mang... I am soooooo stoked to get the lift/x-over in... should bring it to a nice stout stance... not moving the front axle, but I'm bringing the back forward 1.5" to try and help combat the battleship turning radius...

I know the feeling, once it is all painted and the lift is on. It wont look like the same truck you first bought!

Right on, I can't stand the all the aftermarket lights out there, have you looked at some of the ones for late model stuff :eek1:.

Years ago I remember someone made a clear tail light for K stuff, not clear with crazy groups of LEDS behind it but clear as in not red if that makes sense, they were kind of cool.

The duck is one of those times you've just got to say "what the f**k" :D
