Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

ok, cool, thanks shady.. yeah, I was thinking those 3"er type ones would be in a bad right knee spot!

and thanks on the Kenwood.... I know Kenwood used to make a good head unit and I always liked Sony.. I see JVC seems pretty popular these days, back in the day, they always seemed kinda cheesy.

to be honest, one of the features the Sony had that I liked was the multiple color display... I get bored VERY easy... :haha:

I put a sony in mine. The kids think the multi color changing screen is cool.

i had a higher end sony back in the late 80's, early 90's that was like the first color changing one... and it was only 3 color! :haha:

but it was fun, I like the, " eh, I'll run amber today" capability..

Might also consider Alpine head units. I used to be a pioneer fan but their quality went to crap. I put an Alpine in my 2005 crew cab and I love it.

Ive got the oldest alpine cd player deck ever i swear haha. It was free though and actually doesnt skip in the dunes from bumps.

Skip those fosgates. And i hope you are just using crutchfield for shopping, and not buying.....

The middle line Pioneer speakers have been good to me, and play fairly efficiently off of deck power.

yes, i just figure they have a wide selection with a good site.. i'll shop the model # when i decide.... I'm leaning toward that kenwood i posted..

I have a Pioneer deck in my '87 V10, and it changes to like 10,000 colors. Drives me nuts. I should sell it to you.

Martin

Keep in mind that stereo doesn't have preset buttons on the face. I'm not sure how you listen to the radio but not having preset buttons I can jump to is rather inconvenient. I have a similar head unit in my K10 now and while it makes great sound and has everything I want in it, its a pain to jump presets while driving.

Why not buy from Crutchfield? They give you free install kits and their customer service is unbeatable. I think they might price match too. :deal:

she's back down on her paws... ;)

here's a couple shots to show ride height.. still a few odds and ends to finish up, but I should have her out in the sun tomorrow and swapped around to do the back...

I'm VERY pleased with how she sits, and I'm expecting the ride to be vastly improved... :woot:

still a few things to do over the next few months, got a stabilizer to put in, and I'd like to get a sway bar back in it too...

now I just gotta see if she'll fit out the door! ;)

Wow that looks great

Not to get this off track, but I know it will anyways....

Is it possible to run hydro assist with high steer? Seems like you have no good spot to hook the ram:dunno:

I could... tho I'm just gonna run a single stabilizer, no assist... I'll more than likely build a bracket off the dif cover, than tabs on the back of the TR...

if you look up at the shot from the ds hub of the HS, you can see the dif is up pretty high for running a cylinder behind the TR... you could also run something off the ds spring plate, but I don't like that idea as much as the dif cover cuz of maybe deflecting the spring pack sideways...

excellent build i love the attention to detail. im definately going to take your pointers in the paint department. i like your style!!!!

Great point. I spend 90% of my time on the radio, switching between presets. No preset buttons is an automatic fail for head units for me.

Looking great Paul!

Looks very good, nice, quick, work!

How are you going to run a sway bar with crossover? I don't think you'll need a sway bar anyway.

As for the speakers, I like to find speakers with rubber surrounds. It seems to me speakers without them start sounding like crap and distorting much sooner. I usually put little highpass filters in the small front speakers under the dash, although mids and tweeters with crossovers would be much better.

thanks man! :D

:haha: you want attention to detail, go read the novel on my K5... :doah: :pimp: :haha:

on another Dungeon/tools failing me moment... I swear this took me 4x's as long without the impact... them rotor nut's kick your arse by hand.. anyway, the most recent tool disaster is that the worst, and 90% of the rear job is removing the old shackle hangar for Kert's goodness.. well, had the torch from work, ran out of acet chopping out the front the other day... :doah:

and my plasma is down cuz I need some new elctrodes and tips from Parker.. the ESAB ones I got locally don't work...

sooooooooo, it looks like I'll be down to the old grinding rivetheads mode, my stone grinder selection is pretty minimal at the moment.. tho i do have a solid 1/2 dozen cutoff wheels...

either way, I'm sure that gig is gonna take 4x's as long as it should too... :doah:  :haha:

oh, what do you guys think of my selections on parts that got red, than black? I think it ended up coming out pretty cool looking, but ya never know till ya actually see it together.. not too circusy, coughoverthetopcough is it? :haha:

you might be happy just painting the bowtie to match and blend it all together?

actually.. I read about the presets.. for me it really isn't a big deal, I listen to the RATT, maybe the Hawk... just a couple stations... I'll be using the cd or flash 90+% of the time anyway...

and yeah, why is Crutchfield bad? I figured they might be a bit pricey, but actually, I'm betting they are fairly competitve.. I'm sure I could save 10, $20 if i go lowest price, but the big crutchfield/free stuff aspect may be worth it...

i don't know, haven't bought a car stereo in 20 yrs! :haha:

I usually use newegg for my electronic stuff, sometimes tiger direct...

it's been a lot of work actually.. a full day ripping it all out, bolt-in, weld-in, fush's, yada.... but f*ck it, might as well do as much of it in one shot as I can! :haha:

I hadn't looked at the logistics of the swaybar yet. at all.. i assumed i could get it to work, but now that you mention it, I can see the drag link is a big issue... i'll peak at it... and see how she rides over the next few months too...
