Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

boy... I'm broke.. :doah:  :haha:

no purchases for Mutt for a month.. :( I'll be scrambling just to get the $50 or so I need for shims in a couple weeks... other than that, Mutt's on a petrol only diet temporarily...

good, thanks.. the true test is starting now with shrinking and hauling drives around the next 3 months..

not sure, what I'll work on in the meantime.. I think I may start making up the pieces for the rear x-member/winch plate..

well, apparently the USPS cares about my packages,

but the machines don't give a damn and just wanna eat some plasma tips... :doah:

it looks like most of em got here Dustin.... ;) thank ya sir!

Oh shoot, I grabbed a handful of each and dropped them in that baggy. Had the wife mail them from work, looks like she used a regular envelope? Definately some missing but that'll get you burning for awhile. And your welcome :D

yup, may fire that machine up today as a matter of fact... thanks again man..

rain day for Ryoken... rig's running and driving awesome... so I'm gonna clean and organize the dungeon and start prepping some steel for upcoming fab work..

the guy who made Mutt, the angry mallard :haha:, John Billings, makes his living casting the Grammy statues...

so pissed at myself.. somehow I managed while grinding last week to hit the lockout button on my makita buffer/grinder, and blew up the gear set.. well, took some teeth out, now it vibrates to holy he!!, barely usable...

those things ain't cheap no more, paid $250 for this one about 4 yrs ago.. the milwaukee's run about 300 these days.. think i'm gonna try the dewalt.. the boat detail guys have been having good luck with em and it'll be the cheapest of the 3..

I did that once to an OLD craftsman grinder, and it blew appart like a handgernade. Didnt hurt me but scared the hell out of me for sure! Funny thing was I had already bumped it a little bit during that job and it chattered at me. I didnt learn........

the annoying part is I'm anal about NOT doing that cuz I've seen what happens a couple times with all the car/boat buffing/grinding I've seen/done over the yrs...

usually it's my palm just catching it a bit while bearing down into something... normally you'll hear it as it starts before ya wreck it.. the f*cked thing is, I was grinding in some odd positions, but I don't actually remember it happening.. just the next day using it and having it clunk like a mofo...

well, that get's bumped above a horizontal bandsaw on the tools list.. have to have that, no doubt..... :doah:

Could you take it in to a makita dealer and get it fixed?

if i had the parts i could do it easy peezy, i did look up the nearest service place... i gotta figure it's gonna be $150 if i take it to em, maybe i'll call and see how much the gear set is and if they'll sell it to me...

looks like the dewalts can be had for about $175 new if need be....

oh...... dude at Ace hardware today filling propane bottles for me...

"hey, cool duck.."

:haha:
