Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

had to work today.. it's that time of year... did pick up the other 5 gal pail of paint today and new garage door insulation.. tommorrow I'll be down there.. shopped lights and floor paint today, but didn't pull the trigger yet...

hopefully next week I'll be doing $500 on Mutt, probably door stuff, maybe a grill, etc..

one of todays dungeon projects...

getting the garage doors decent.. they originally had just some 1/2" styrofoam as insulation, which as you can see was ummm, kinda hammered looking... :haha:

and the panels had a nice gap left even with the foam...

so i added some 1" insulation board to fill it....

turned out pretty cool...

and should help TREMENDOUSLY with noise, let alone heat...

was under $50.. like $12 a 4' x 8' sheet... just ran the compressor some and went outside, it's seriously like a 1/4 as loud as it was before... cool, I'm sure my neighbors will appreciate that.... :haha:

Ooh! Something that's been on my to-do list for my garage for years =))

Two questions:

What'd you use to cut the styrofoam, and did it make a friggin mess?

And how'd you attach the stuff? Is it just friction fit, or did you use like spray glue or Liquid Nails or something?

thay silver foil coated stuff just cuts with box cutter knife. and not messy at all like white packing stuff we get in all our box's .

yup, razor blade goes right thru it.. crack it, cut the bend on back, just like sheetrock... and just some loose foamy kernals when done... 5 minutes with the shop vac..

and my doors have a recess top and bottom of each section.. you can see in the one pic.. so just a bit oversized top to bottom, tuck in bottom, bend out a bit and tuck in up top.. easy peezy... :D

what did you wind up doing with your fuel tanks? i have a 87 cc im dragging out of the weeds & the fuel switch or something isnt working right, i cant get fuel to engine at all, im thinking of just pulling both tanks, then run an electric pump inside frame rail, then use fuel cell in the bed. any thoughts?

I haven't done anything really other than be frustrated by the stock system at this point... :haha:

eventually I'll be doing the large custom single tank, probably next summer.. I've also re-evaluated that and may go to an intank pump on that.. haven't decided 100% yet...

right now, I only have one tank that gives decent pressure.. the system is relatively simple.. i have a new selector valve, and the tanks switch fine..

i just lose lot's of pressure when on the ds (aux) tank... the ironic thing is, that's the tank I put a new pump in... :doah: I don't know, it's gotta be a pinhole in that pickup tube or something, i haven't gone back into that tank to figure it out..

it is a nuisance, as I only have an 18 gal capacity at this point using the ps tank.. but it runs and works, on one.....

on my 2wd i am doing i swaped in a 87 efi tank and sender with pump to match the efi engine i swaped in . then extra tank was carbed style so i added a pump on frame rail to transfer fuel from right to left tank . cheep n easy .

the saddles will be in the way of my hanging stainless steel tool boxes... ;)

the single tank I drew up should hold about 55 gal's... :pimp:

that's a rediculous argument... noone says you HAVE to fill it.. but it's nice that you could if you want..

and I certainly don't make a ton of money...
