Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Well here in CA according to the vehicle code they "require" coverage from "12 o'clock to 3 o'clock". I was pulled over in my F250 once because of tire coverage (and a whole other issue thats a long funny story) and the CHP pulled out the book and showed me the law. Not sure about NJ but its a thought.

BTW he did not give me a ticket.:thumb:

started prepping the rims for paint tonight... now I'm torn... gonna do the main rim part satin black.. and the simulock in Ryoken red...

I just assumed I'd run ss bolts like Kert had in there, but now I'm contemplating black ones... :doah:

guess I'll see how the silver ones look with the red and black, and I can always paint up some black ones to try out too...

I'm thinking your right... your first thoughts are usually the right choice...

so, after a 2 day world-wide tour,

thanks to Kert for the toys... :waytogo:

looks like I'm gonna get to spend some "quality" time with my blast cab this weekend.. start getting some stuff stripped and primer...

For the wheel bolts, do you have any other stainless shiny parts on the truck..? If you have black bumpers, drip rails and door handles id say do em in black. Then it all flows together. That box looks like a nice little package..lol.

Did you by chance mean part 'DEUCE' showed up:whistle:

:haha:

:haha:

that would have worked too.. :haha: I just felt with the "sending my parts to foreign lands" bit, douche was appropriate.. :D

speaking of douche.. up and outside at 7 this morn, aircraft stripped all the parts, steamed em... drying now, rest of the day I'll be at the blast cab...

yeah, there'll be a bit of shine/silver, mainly cuz of all the alum plate and toolboxes in the tubebed... and my mirrors and front bumper are black, but I don't bother doing anything with the shiny door handles..

so I'll go silver and see how they look... being simulocks it's stoopid easy to just change out 1 wheel at some point to check out the black if I'm bored too.. :haha:

Looking great Paul. :waytogo:

Awesome getting some new stuff in the lab to play with. :woot:

Ps... Your going to scratch the paint on your DD if you keep attaching those straps to the wheel well lip. :tongue1:

man, it LOVED that weight in the back.. :deal: it's a reminder I need to pick up some sandbags for the winter...

got too much to do in the Lab at the moment... :haha: you know me, I'll have axle all smoothed out, got hr's upon hr's in the cab between the parts, rims, etc... got a 12 of neers ready so I'm good tho... :pimp:

Good to see it all made it there... Finally!

Crate looks no worse for the wear with all its gallivanting around the country side.

yeah, you guys built it like a brick sh*thouse... :waytogo: somehow they managed to put in on top of 2 pallets in it's travels, which just made it more difficult to pull off the truck with our Lull as opposed to just leavin it the way you guys had it....

remind Tracey to put that charge thru... and THANKS! :D

How did it end up in Port Elizabeth? That sounds like a major screw up of epic proportions.

eh, it was Elizabeth.. I threw in port for the comedic aspect... :haha:

the company ships out of south plainfield.. my guess is when it came in from Iowa, it goes to a main hub in Elizabeth.. than it was supposed to get retrucked to S. Plainfield for local distribution, but never got put on that truck...

I was so glad when he opened the rig, and I saw the box Kert built, I knew there wouldn't be any issues..

it was just a couple days, but as I mentioned to Kert, I would have rather none of it showed weds, and both came Friday.. I was freakin on where the axle one was.. :screwy: :haha:

BLAST CABS RULE!!!!!! :saweet:

*** this has been a public service announcement***

eh, as childish as it looks, it helps my cranium perceive WTF I'm considering... :doah: :haha:

I'm pretty revved on how I think the outcome will look.. but ya never truly know till it's staring ya in the face... :doah:

I suffer from this problem....I have a hard time envisioning things in the end result:doah:

I don't know how much the laws vary by state but when I had to add mudflaps to my blazer I was told that the law said they had to hang down to the midpoint of the tire. Mine are a little short of that and I've never had a problem.

I'd guess that you'll be fine with those.

For what it's worth I think the right mudflaps actually look good on a truck like yours.

I would agree with this...MI don't really have an issue with these kind of rules, but a couple other places..including Moab when I was with Chris Perry, he got pulled over and the cop said below center line of axle and full width of tires.

Dam those look good!

Wondered too Paul, what paint do you use for bolts/nuts that won't chip off? Powder coat seems a good idea, but I've never tried it.
Even if I use a ratchet and socket, the paint always seems to chip off, except for the ryoken green primer!

thanks Dave... yeah, even Imron has a tendency to chip on bolt heads.. powdercoat is better, but even that seems to get f*cked up after awhile.. the black coated, anti-corrosion hardware from McMaster bible seems to hold up well.. if ya need black.. :doah:

speaking of black...

flattened Imron.. still flattening as I type... :haha:
