Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

boy, I need some consumables... I have 0 rolocs, all my grinding discs are hammered, etc...

only thing I have right now is a roll of 80 DA paper... :doah: :haha:

Looking good Paul.

We pissed around with our blast cabinet with one of your pieces but our cabinet brings the suck. Obviously yours works much better.

:haha: I did notice that one bracket was cleaned up..... :pimp:

hey, quick question.. I remember you saying the rotor was off a dually van... but I'm guessing that those are 3/4 ton chevy calipers, and maybe hoses from a chevette?

I don't remember what the application was for the hose. I think I still have the part numbers though. It's a line we use often.

getting pretty clean & smooth.......

that's for the K5, but I'll do the one on this axle the same way with the Ryoken red and black...

was content with smooth covers on this rig, but since it came with a razor, might as well... :pimp:

I'll have to use the 60 one from the K5 at some point up front and replace it with a new one..

beautiful stuff as always man. Color me (ryoken) green with jealousy.

I would, but I ran out!!

ba-dump-bump :haha: I'll have to order some more for tues morn...

and thanks.... :D

I think I have issues, I just shaved the bottom, AND THE TOP lip, cuz I was bored, and it looks way cleaner... :screwy: :saweet:

top shave....

gonna be a couple weeks before I get tires, but I'll probably start mocking up suspension and the axle next weekend.. weather pending...

You can shave about 1.25" more off that bottom. That way you wouldn't even scratch the Prius you back over.

that's what I was going for... I felt guilty enough doing it on a tow/service rig as it was... :haha:

:haha:

aircraft strip and steam wash yesterday..

ripped the tube areas with 80 on a DA, than a 7" flapwheel on the housing large areas, right angle die grinder with 24 grit rolocs into the tighter areas, than some spot sandblasting of the nook and crannies.. shave the 2 areas with the big grinder and finish off the whole housing with a heavy DA of 80 grit...

that was about 6 hr's worth of work.. would have been about 4, but I went out for a couple bags of sand and was lacking a few grinding/sanding consumables... throw in I actually ground both those lips off as opposed to saw/cut and grind.. bit more time consuming...

sandblasting the nooks and crannies is what makes it look so clean... just wrapped the rotor ends and pinion in rags and shrinkwrap tape...

oh, and I also trimmed down and shaped the dual brakehose brackets to singles that where on from the old dual caliper setup...

There's my issue. I don't think I can spend 6 hours on a project like that.

Didn't even notice the dual line bracket. Parts were coming off the crew pretty fast those few days.

yeah, you have to make money.. I'm sitting around my garage drinking neers with nothing better to do.. :haha:

I was like "oh wait, that's right, this originally had dual calipers.." I'm glad you simplified it down to the singles...

well, for as productive, and well, as the last 2 days have gone.. today, has not started out particularly well...

caught that just in time... it only had about a 1/2 qrt of oil left in it..

my biggest issue is trying to figure out where I might have a couple of those flanged bolts around.. they're here somewhere from my other 14, but damned if I remember where I put them... :haha:
