Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

yup...

I love how it's all about the treehuggers..

they're doing it to intimidate us! :haha:

idiots...

I don't know why I'm always surprised at the ignorance of legislators. You can tell from the wording that they have absolutely no idea what's going on in the auto world or what creates smoke. They actually think stacks store up smoke so the driver can spew it out at will.

Their ignorance will work in our favor because there's no way cops can enforce this law. Older truck would have to be grandfathered in w/ no way to prove that a modification didn't exist before the law took effect. The main thing is they'd have to prove that you've modified the truck in some way. Outside the obvious stacks, how would they know if someone changed injectors, turbos or chips?

Also, the only emissions law cops can write for says a car has to have a noisy AND smokey exhaust. That's why cops can't write a ticket for a state violation for cars w/ loud fart can exhausts. Local ordinances may be another story, but there's also no way to test how much louder it is than stock. Plus there's no diesel emissions inspection for trucks so cops can't write a ticket for altering after inspection, which was the catch all for many violations (tinted windows).

Come on, lets be honest, they're going to write tickets to whomever they think is dumb enough to not be able to understand the law and defend themself. Its the municipal mindset of generating money from people who don't know when they've been wronged by the man.

When you build that tank and pull up to the pump, please get a video of the kid that gets paid minimum wage to pump your fuel. Its gonna be great seeing him try to figure out where the fuel filler is...:haha::haha: Still find it very odd that its illegal to pump your own gas in NJ.

nobody ever says a peep to me.. I've ALWAYS pumped my own gas since getting my license.. in all my vehicles..

I actually didn't know until 5, 10 yr's ago, I wasn't supposed/allowed to.... :haha:

and yeah, it'll be a top fill.. i'll have to get up in the bed to do it.. tho it is often a moot point anyway, as I often just fuel up at the marina/work  since we sell fuel/have pumps..

I got threatened they would call the cops the first time i drove into oregon or somewhere with attendants.

Dude, i'm from CA. I'm sorry. You can wash my windshield, and we'll call it even.:haha:

Probably better that way since most marinas are still ethanol free.

its a good bill in my book.... I frickin LOVE diesel and want one myself but doing the whole rollin coal thing with that huge black cloud is completely unnecessary and really destroys public opinion about a good thing....
about the equivalent of the morons that walk around town with an AK47 or AR strapped to their back because they can....
Im sure its hard to avoid when cranking up a diesel, but with instant programmers and such today itd be real easy to hit a button and detune it to drive across town. no reason for 1200hp to drive to work.
sorry ... rant off..

truck is awesome still and yes a diesel would be sweet..... take a book with you when you go to fill up that 72 gallon tank :haha: as slow as the pumps run nowadays it'll take you 45 min to fill up :D

I enjoy seeing the face of an attendant when i pull up to a pump in my Monte when they dont know its behind the liscense plate,

Mutt is looking awesome!

that's exactly what happens...

running 1.5" thru the 2" complete die is a fail pretty much... first you could NEVER due a multibend piece...

you also have to space up the following block to keep it in line with the die.. it has crazy springback, to the point that it's difficult to get the next "notch" in..

doesn't seem to hurt the die/block tho..

I did get one fully bent 90.. it flattens it out and deforms it too much for my taste...

the pic actually looks better than it looks in person to me...

I don't think jerking around trying to make it work is worth bothering.. i'll just nut up and get the proper setup ASAP.. just not in the cards for at least a couple weeks probably...

Paul,

Pro-Tools just posted up a Christmas special on FaceBook. Buy one die, get one free.....

Not sure if they will just sell you a single die for 50% off, but it might be worth calling.

Just trying to save you a few bucks, bud. :waytogo:

I would agree the whole intentional rolling coal thing, setting a rig up to do it, is not a good thing for auto enthusiasts of any type.. just like garbage dumpers to 4 wheelers, etc...

funny you say that, our dizzle pump at the marina is on it's last leg after Sandy and is sloooooow as molasses these days... Mutt'll be sucking gas for awhile tho unfortunately...

just looked, yeah, they say it only applies to those 3 sizes.... I own 2 of the 3 (wish they had that when I bought the bender!) but I would certainly buy that 1.75 one if they throw in the 1.5 x 6 that I'm looking for... i'll call between x-mas and new years and see if they can give me some sort of deal.. thanks for spotting that! :waytogo:

I got mad on the parkway one day here and started pumping my own gas after sitting there for 10mins with the guy moving slow as ****. He got pissed off and started yelling at me that its unlawful to pump your own gas in NJ. So I ignored him and he came over and cancelled the pump.... I had some not nice words with him after that.
