Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

eesh, that's eleventy x's worse than this... :eek1: still have all my parts after yr's of abuse... just a bit more scarred than many..... :doah: :haha:

just got back with steel and a new jigsaw....

and WELCOME to page 40 for those using 100 view! :pimp:

My brother in law was grinding a piece of metal on a belt sander, the metal caught and yanked his index and middle finger in between the guard and the belt. Ground down through the meat and bone. Now he has two stubs.
Pretty funny when he flips me off though.

This almost happened to me today...

The piece of metal I was grinding got caught between the deck and belt and sucked my thumb between the metal and the belt. Thank god it jammed the thing and I shut it off. It had such a squeeze on my finger I literally had to take a wrench and pry the plate off my ****ing finger.

I dont know how I didnt get more hurt than just a really squished finger...

You post pics of the drink to cure the pain. Where the pics of the pinky for us gore loving folks

I'm scared to take the bandage off! :haha: :doah:

you know me, I've posted TON'S of war wounds in here, they be a coming... :haha:

*note to self* STAY THE H#LL AWAY FROM BELT SANDERS FOR A FEW DAYS!!! THEY'RE REVOLTING AGAINST US:eek1::eek1:

:haha:

funny story today about this...

so I'm down at our boat factory laying up glass, etc all day.. my one boss needs some lumber, so we go wandering around the landlords section of the building looking for some...

we come around a corner, and what's sitting right in front of us? one of these...

the bad news....

basically back to work full-time, so no more full-time fab for Mutt.... tho I may take a 3 day weekend coming up to try and bang out some of the alum panels.....

the good news..... :woot:

my bosses are racking up a $250 a day bill with me right now... :pimp:

so I will probably be ordering my boxes this friday or monday... I'm going to put it on the marina credit card...

even if they are 3 g's, it's still a done deal, that's how much they'll owe me by march 15th, when I go back to work at the marina on the books....

I may even order the 2 lower boxes if that all comes in around 3 g's..

so even with a 3 to 4 week to lead/delivery time, I should get them the first week of april or so...

b*tchin...... :saweet:

I always say it's a trade off between the 2, time and money. Seems like a fella can have lots of time but then little money. Or ends up being the other way around, lots of money but no time to use it for fun stuff.

yup, this is timing out pretty good too.. would have been better to start racking up some funds more towards the beginning of feb when I ran out of materials, but I'll take it now fo sure...

this is really just "freebie" funds... the bills are being paid already..

I either save this as down the road, vacation/sick days, or spend the money on their CC..

I can still bang hard on weekends to fit the alum... and once it warms a bit, even get a few hr's after work here and there during the week..

stoked.. :saweet: if I can have the alum panels, boxes and tailights in by the end of april-ish, I'll be ecstatic..

the only question remains, how psycho is the box pricing going to be... I'm prepared for the worst.. anything above $750 a piece tho, and I'm gonna have a catastrophic coronary emboleptic rupture.. :doah:  :haha:

....and for a little extra boost, Daylight Savings Time begins this coming Sunday!!! :saweet:

That extra hour of daylight each evening is going to be a game changer.

looks like one last blast for Joysey, calling for 5 to 8 on thurs.. :doah: but next week is supposed to be all mid 40's+.... :screwy:

anyway...

so I've been perusing the site over at Highway Products stuff... checking out other things available, etc other than drawers/hangars I want.. when I see the pic Mark posted earlier when we where talking about lights...

that bed is made by them... :haha:

they build some pretty sick stuff...

here's a different pic of a similar drawer setup to mine... this is made for the floor of a burb...

Truck_drawesr--5.jpg

mine will be smooth satin, and obviously each will be much smaller.. but same idea... gonna see if I can do mine with the dual sliders like this one has for heavy loads too...

than the hangers/bat box will something along these lines...

1/2 a day to get the LAB™ cleaned up, but got the afternoon in today....

under supports tacked in....

000_0001_zpsyvzib00x.jpg

if you look closely, you'll notice the rear 2 are spaced a fair amount closer to the rear.. the forward has larger openings next to it...

this was done as the rear 1/2 is where it'll see more weight from me walking around, etc.. the front is under the tubes and wont have huge loads on it...

first alum cut... forgot how much chip it throws... :haha: one 8' cut left a pile that'd fill a beer can...

I see lot's of templating in my near future, gonna need to go get some more poster board! :pimp:

hopefully, by sunday I can have that one panel fitting up, drilled, countersunk and it's supports and panel mounts fully welded...

and be into the mirrored panel on the other side somewhat....

Thought of your build and taillight discussion yesterday when I saw a flatbed with late model Dodge Charger taillight assembly recessed into the back of it. I've always thought the Charger's have a cool taillight.
