This got me all gitty and happy.
That bed is looking awesome Paul, as always great work!

I'll either be back on it in oct, or definitely jan... biggest issue with the K5 at this point is parts money... most of the fab work is done....
it just needs an eleventy ton piggy bank smashed over it now...
worked a couple hr's on Mutt tonight after work prepping the cab wall.... hopefully that will be Ryoken red and the tubebed black by sunday night...
flaps came in today too...

if the weather agrees, which it isn't supposed to, I'm gonna have both painted before the weekend, and have the tubebed mounted by sunday night..

I'm not so worried about getting it out the door, well, yeah, I am, doing it by myself...
it's more the logistics, once it's outside.. meaning I need to have the rig running to move//maneuver it in the yard till the tubebed is out and lifted up, ready to be backed under...
still farting around with my fuel pump/sender/pickup... it seems BOTH the pickups out of the saddle tanks, have bad fuel pump bulkhead connectors.. the stoopid plastic piece the electric plugs go into...
what I'm gonna do is just a simple bulkhead stovebolt thru a grommet in the hole where the bulhead was/is, for the pump power.. but that needs to be brass, and I'm having trouble sourcing a #10-24 stovebolt in brass locally...

Is that the plug that goes into the fuel pump itself? I got a spare harness from when I got my fuel pumps. Also have a TBI fuel pump I won't be using that came with my sending unit. All new.
no, it's part of the actual pickup that goes in the tank... next to where the tubes go thru there's a plastic thru-connector that the fuel pump plugs into inside the tank.. and a plug outside the tank for the harness up the frame..
both of mine fail continuity tests.. one was bad when I got the rig, now the other has gotten sketchy too... this fix will work fine till I get the new tank made... (actually, it's the same method i'll be using in the new custom pickup for the new tank)
it just needs to be brass for conductivity..... I'm sure Square Deal hardware a couple towns south of here will have it, but with no brakes in the DD, it's a bit further than I want to drive till I fix em....

yeah, I had never seen one do it either.... the first is an actual break/fail of the wire inside the plastic..
the second is a loose cruddy pin connection at the socket just inside the tank... worst case scenario, I'll just solder a power lead to that pin for the pump...

The weight of paint might be equal to tube 
such a nuisance painting sh*t like that... gun stays on jet stream the whole time.. a million angles.. like painting cement mixer frames... I could paint a car in the material it takes to paint all that tube...
gonna paint it Friday night... be nice to see it in black...
hopefully painting the cab wall sat... get Mutt running sunday morn and drag the tubebed out, mount in the afternoon if the stars/hookers align.....

these things are fuggin sick..... try to ignore the flash glare....
they should be a perfect look to match the burnished look I'm going for with the panels....

even tho I got them at about 55% of retail, it was still stoopid sheckles..... but I want them to be highend...
they are actually medium sized, not large.. being the folddown doors are only 7.5" high, these will fit perfect... very happy with the choice, now I just have to cut lot's of rectangle holes!

Be one with the jig saw
You'll be glad in the end you spent dough on those latches and I think you're well aware of that. Theres nothing worse that cheap hardware seizing and tweaking something trying to get it unstuck.
