Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

hmmm, great info...

actually that really helps.. the 4wd one has the pigtail plugged into it, with the foot or so of wire not attached to anything.... I could steal it for now to plug in the reverse to check the switch and get it hooked up...

gonna start gearing up to make a copy of the K5's dash bezel and go all Autometer in Mutt sometime over the next 6 months or so.. it's kinda one of those projects I can do on the side late at night... so the 4wd indicator wont be needed for a while... heck, I won't have a driveshaft in it till the fall anyway... :doah: :haha:

Mutt goes in for a custom tailpipe tomorrow...

the Meineke guy kinda freaked when he saw it today.. :haha: hopefully he hooks me up with some nice work.. :pimp:

I kind of like the sequence speed as is...maybe it "slows down" a bit when you are going 70 mph and gives the poor sob next to you a chance to live :haha:

As for shows, I've yet to make it to one...because it wasn't complete with seats and everything, but I have had people ask me to bring it to shows...down here it's different, not a lot of them and not many people even remember the 73-75...they think the lack of a cab is custom

But I think you ought to take it to some shows...meet some people...impress some womens...:D

chicks don't give a damn about the rig.. :haha: guy's are camping out in the Shoprite parking lot to meet me.... :doah: :doah: :haha:

I know how car shows tend to be... part of me want's to throw the rig in their face... yup, ain't perfect, or done.... but what did you build/fab on that 69 Camaro? hmmmm?

the other 1/2 of me can't be bothered with the hater's.. we'll see...

so far, I have to give the public some props.... TON's of respect/props being shown the rig so far.. just about EVERY single truck on the road, dually towrigs, motometal'd homo rigs, etc, all waving, thumbs up, etc..

so we'll see.. the main show in town is oct 17... being so far off, I'm thinking I may very well show at that one.. should have most of the fab projects done at that point... thought there where a couple earlier in the yr, but we'll see...

I'm w/ Chief. I like the speed where it is. It's quick enough that a near by car will see the sequence and be warned of a turn or lane change if you're they type that just holds the turn signal stalk for a second w/out fully engaging it before you make your move.

it's funny you say that......

I've noticed since driving it again, I'm very aware, of what people behind and around me are seeing as far as the sequencing, my brakelights, etc...

a big part of that is safety being in overly congested Joysey of course......

Ryoken - just made a dash note for the Meineke guy about my kill switch... :haha:

oh, and picking gauges too tonight... I'm thinking I may nut up and try a GPS speedo.. thinking I'll do the same bezel as the K5, with Sport Comps with Ryoken red bezels...

Let us know how that works out, I am super interested in the GPS speedos. Would like to hear how they work first hand.

will do... it'll be a bit... it's about #17 on the priority list...

most of that decision is laziness... :doah:  :haha:

as mentioned, they ain't cheap, the 5" is like $425.... but obviously I'm not afraid to crack the piggybank open here and there..

:pimp: :doah: :eek1: :doah:  :woot:

The GPS speedo we had in our 2 ton flat bed at my last job lost signal every now and then.....:dunno: never was driven far from the plant, but occasionally would drop to '0'.

that one was put in like 4-5 years ago though..... maybe they work better now or it was done wrong from the start... I don't know

When you build your next dash panel, bezel, thingy, do you mind doing a step by step thread of how to in the garage. That thing in cool and would be awsome to throw up seperate from the 2 encyclopedias you have running now, for search needs.

I know you pound out a ton of info for this site but that is one part that everybody can learn and/or benefit from.

yeah, that's obviously a concern.. I do intend to read some reviews and such on the current ones...

will do... obviously, the glass/composite work won't be something everyone can do, but I'll do my best to document it... templating, etc.. if I can't sell em, might as well teach ya how to make one... :pimp:

it was something that was WAY down on the list, but being a DD type deal, it's nice to have that info/fun staring you in da face... ;)

I know people have been bugging you for years to make and sell them, I figured if they see what goes into them they can appreciate them that much more or get adventurous and try it for themselves, me being the latter.

that's the first time I've ever been thanked profusely for letting someone work on one of my vehicles... :haha: the Meineke guys where all blown away... they did a nice job, just need to shorten the tailpipe, they left it long for me to set the length..

being hotrodder/track type guys, I was glad I could give them something "fun" to do, as opposed to the usual Honda Accord muffler and such... talked to em about doing the cummins exhaust down the road too...

since I'm waiting on funding, my drawers and alum welding, I think this weekend I may start pounding out those 2 front corner bends...

Paul, I have put Horton in shows. The haters walk by with their nose in the air. Cool is cool and the guys who walk by or go ewww it's not even done aren't true car guys. If I saw Mutt in a car show even in its current state I might ask about future plans but that's just cause its fairly obvious you plan to do more.

Although car shows tend to be a waste of a good weekend for the most part.

Haha. Sunday afternoon I got my Blazer mobile, so I took it for a test drive. I was right over by the neighbors place, and they were having their grandson's high school graduation open house there, to which I was invited. So I swung over there, gave the kid a $20 bill and bs'ed. Well a few people were asking me about my Blazer, and they wanted to look at it, so we walked over and checked it out. While doing so, some high school kids noticed, so they walked over by one of their buddy's Ford Bronco. It had a clean body, but was on some hideous gangster wheels, body lift with no bumper relocation, so terrible bumper gaps, and big obnoxious extra shocks with bright boots on stock suspension.

Later one of the kids came over to me and told me the Bronco was way better. I just smiled and asked if he wanted to follow me........

I've been listening, but the chunk? Is that some type of slang?
Don't take it the wrong way. Some people aren't interested in other people interest. People come to CK5 for the Blazers and CKs, not to listen to death metal. Some of us split our interest between web sites. There is no one stop for everything where everybody agrees with everything.
I know you are frustrated, but must of us aren't into niche metal.

I have enjoyed the music but don't ask me about the nuance of the music since you are a big Uhhhm from me.
