Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

I never even realized the paint on the roof of my dually was ****ed up until I was looking down on it one day from my second floor window. Lol.

Mmmmmm, kinda want that fill door on my burb now. Wonder how it would look?

Look great!

Question thought, is the seam around the top panel going to collect water? I noticed a gasket around the lip to keep it from seeming in but will it pool?

thanks.... as I mentioned earlier, the gasket is for the quick release, and the "true" water sealing... but I'll drag a dress bead of the same black silicone caulk in that outer groove that I'm gonna use around the perimeter of all the alum panels....

pump the edge, finger it flat.. that way when you want to remove it, quick slice with a razor knife, bolts, pop off...

hmmmmmmm, kibble container?

that should house a pretty serious dual bat system, with some room to spare...... duals with 2 remote activated bat switches and an ACR...

basically I'll be running 2 #27's the majority of the time.. but it will have the capability to handle anything from a pair of # 24's, to 31's ideally, and even a pair of 4 D's..

but I get many free #27 interstates a yr, so that's what it will be set up for... 31's, I actually have to buy...

and in reality, that's gonna be the driver side, the bat's will be ps... so this one will be tow gear, kibble, dead bodies, et all....

edit - it's 22" wide x 13" high x 29" deep...

dead bodies:haha:

That random throw in reminded me of when i bought my 97 lincoln.....
dealer popped the trunk and said "Wow! imagine how many bodies you could fit in there..?" I didnt skip a beat. Just looked in there thoughtfully with a straight face and said "Probly 5 or 6 unless I get the chainsaw out" and then shut it and said " I'll take it." dude didnt know what to think:haha:

Are you going to fill the area from the boxes to the wheel with an angle or curved panel for looks or leave it squared off?

:haha:

the plan, at this point, is to leave it squared off in the front and back... it goes to the bottom of the rocker, so it carries that line back...

other gas door came in.. I'll get that in this weekend.. but the fills and such won't probably be done till next weekend... wont be getting my mcbible hardware order till tues or so...

I should get almost 2 full days of fab in on this hangin box this weekend, unless I sneak out sun afternoon for some goof..... be sweet to have the tube work done and a couple alum panels fitted/bolted in too.. hopefully done next week end after getting hinges and hardware in mid week....

kibble/water dispenser design/theory/discussion begins tonight... :haha:

boy, I am mental..... :doah:  :dunno:  :haha:

so. it's been gnawing at my cortex since I mocked it up..... chalk up 2 22" pieces for the tuition pile! :doah:  :haha:

gonna need to use up my last 4'er of tube to remake the 2 lowers, wider... from 22" to 24".... it just wasn't in proportion.. :screwy::deal:

this is the new width...

in the pouring rain..... :doah:  :screwy:

being it's front is gonna be right below the drawer end/tube, that already set's it back 6" from the leading edge of the tube bed/cab wall.. so it really wants to go back as far as possible..

24" put's it at the distance off tire, as the mudflap... 3" off at the closest on that vertical plane...

the 4' er wasn't gonna help anyway.. I need a whole nother stick for the other side anyway....

just glad I caught myself before I started burning stuff in...

oh, and for trivial minded among us, the ds cargo/coffin will be an inside storage space of 11" high x 22" wide x 27" deep..

the ps battery box will be 1.5" higher at 12.5" x22" x 25.5" deep... little shallower, but taller...

the tube dimension will stay the same, that's one with a higher ceiling and flush back panel, nothing you would see..

it could actually fit 4 #27's in there... :eek1:

it'd be tight with the remote switches and ACR tho... with 2, the switches and ACR, it will take up 2/3 of it.. I'll have space up in front for sumfin, electricamagiggle... :dunno:

think I'll be make that the electrical command center... 2 bat switch, ACR, ign slave solenoid, winch control solenoids, maybe an inverter.... ideas welcome... :ears:

oh... and.. I'm such a slacker.. been driving the rig for like 3, 4 months now, and I STILL haven't enlarged the lower mudflap holes so they lay flat... :doah: :doah:  :angry1:

 :waytogo: :doah:  :haha:

well, par for the course.. WAY underestimated the work involved in building even one side.. it's a fair amount of tube work.. 8 separate pieces to be exact... :doah:

I'll be lucky to have the tube work done and in RG tomorrow.. and that's if I don't smack the ball around... but I'm doubting that's gonna happen anyway...

maybe some mooooo fun pics morrow....
