Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Sorry I forgot. As a Sailor it's on the front of my mind. I've got mammary issues, or memory. Whatever.

all good... it's impotent that my drunk arse get's reminded of important issues like that.. and combining ss, al and steel certainly opens a huge avenue for that bunch o' fugly... :doah: :haha:

oh, actually a fab note... :doah:

sorry I didn't get pics today in process... :doah: was kinda trying to crank... the flat tabs thru me, had to make em... and now tomorrows stuff wont be using my jig..

but that was something I wanted to show everyone.. I mentioned it back over the winter.. but installing these panels isn't just a matter of locating the panel tabs, welding them on, proceed..

while great, they are NOT that precise... you need a jig to control the depth to 1/2 way.. than clamp the fitted alum to it, than put the tabs where you want, tack em in... drill the alum thru the tabs.. unclamb alum, countersink alum.... bolt it together with proper hardware... weld nut's.. disassemble.. fully burn.. sand, clean, paint... install alum.... rinse, repeat...

It's not only your drunk arse...

touche' :haha: :waytogo:

f*ck wasting my weekend on golf.... fab tomorrow..

:grind::weld::hack:

i'll just get the crew to leave at lunch one day during the week to play!!!! :woot: :haha:

but I will go to the range tomorrow night...

So..... do a reverse gull wing door so the door lays down and the dog can just walk up it.

Couple a hydro cylinders and some mild fabbing and it would be rather easy

Find a big piano hinge like a twin Beech or Cessna uses.

you soooo cwazy!?!!?!? :haha:

neat idea.. :pimp:

but ummmmm, no? ;)

plus you'd have to have a ramp on the inside of the doors, blocking the windows....

ok, I guess you could 2 piece the ramp, have it hang folding while the door is up.. than fold the lower one out once open...

I just know anything like that is faaaaar more work, time, money than "mild fabbing"... to have it come out right and not be booty fabbed, Pimp my Ride"...

I have whatever size hinge you want thru work... how do you support the factory metal to mount that? do you just use the one factory rear latch? or do you move it to the top?

hydro? you'd have to do some fulcrum setup.. let alone cylinders, where do hide them? latching when closed, rainbows and fairies...

let alone doing the ramp fitment top and bottom, hinging.. and still have to screen the window for driving and idjits... having a stop to keep the outer sheetmetal from scraping the ground, etc..

me thinks adding a plank of alum to my floor build will be mucho easier and cheaper... :deal: albeit, not as George Jetson.... :pimp: :haha:

here's how the fills worked out....

oh, just a DD'er note.. got the chance to run the highway again this morn on some errands.. beautiful morn, no traffic... found myself doing 85, pushing 90 in Mutt up the Parkway... :saweet:

rig run's frickin awesome... got that minor vibe from 35 to 45, but other than that, smooth and sweet everywhere else... rompin....

sending Prius's scurrying for their sheetmetal life at every turn! :woot: :saweet: that alone, makes me smile...

this morn's mach 2 tune 0' choice..... check your bass settings and turn it up....

I still envy your photos with the beautiful blue sky...with the terrain I can tell you are near the ocean...makes me want to go cruisin' the beaches...

thanks bud... :D

at some point, I'd like to actually take the rig somewhere to do an actual photoshoot I guess you would call it.. but I feel kinda ghey about that... :haha:

even taking pics of the rig in the field across from the house, I feel a bit silly...

not to mention, if it isn't coping killing, vert skatin, I'm not a very good photographer... I'd prolly need to take lots and lots o' pics to get some decent ones... maybe the beach, or the park or something...

all that said... not sure how often I'll be updating this thread from now on.. I inherently like to try and entertain you guys, but honestly, it seems the weekly updates, tho a TON of work on my end, don't seem to impress many in here... I may just do big updates every few months or something.. they seem to generate the best response around here...

for the couple dozen guys who read this thread pretty religiously, dig it, and actually appreciate the work I put into my stuff, thanks mucho, seriously

**** rest deleted to be forum politically correct *****

Come on man - keep the updates coming - how else are we going to vicariously live this build!?

I don't comment much, mostly because I haven't got anything useful to add, but I greatly enjoy following your builds. But I can understand, updating a thread can be a time consumer.
