Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

good question... VERY good question.... :waytogo:

to be honest.. there are VERY few left.. they are generally K5's or jimmy's from what I've seen... I know of one stockish CUCV type one running around... couple minor lifted ones... some are pretty rotted looking... a couple are clean.. but of all of those, they aren't very extreme.. maybe 33's or 35's with basic lift kits and such...

I've actually seen a pretty damn clean like 87ish Blazer in my marina.. friend of a boat customer or sumfin.. on like 33 or 35's, stock other than a minor lift and tires.... guy doesn't give my rig the slightest look or respect... oh well... :dunno: his loss, I might have some parts to hook him up with...

maybe a couple burbs around.. but haven't seen many of them around lately... did see an early 90's one for sale recently.. was tempted to check it out ( yeah, I can afford another project! :haha:)

I would say, it's a fair bit more uncommon in Joysey than most other states.. Nazi emissions, etc... me thinks you'll find more decent K5's kicking around Nebraska on any given day than Joysey, EASILY.... :haha:

That's looks freaking good.

Are there things I don't like you betcha. Even if I didn't like anything on it the overall look, the porportion, the flow of the whole thing works extremely well.

I dig it Paul. I dig it.

I'd swap LEDs into the housing, less issues. Btw awesome rig, it's prefect don't change a thing. Except that turbo that's something to tink of..

thanks, that means a ton.. :D but please, give me your critique of what you don't like... I'm curious as to what some might not like about the overall design..... I'm not sure WHAT I could have done different/better?

I certainly respect your thoughts on what looks/work good... :waytogo:

I think he means the cab lights, get led lights up there. I've had no issues with the led cab lights I installed on my Yukon.

oh, ok.. :doah: I'm a bit torn on the whole roof light deal.... I REALLY like that whole factory look.. but some of the smoky lower LED type stuff doesn't look bad, IMO.. please, any real world input on that, is welcome... :ears: Mike was always pushing me toward the newer, fancier stuff....

You could easily go either way, classic will give it more of a work truck look, new will go along well with your custom work. Mine are DECON led cab lights for a Ram pickup.

It is pure what it's for vs what I would use it for question. I'm not a fan of the doghouse. I understand why it's there and honestly doesn't detract.

Now let's remember I'm am from a farm ranch town grew up kicking hay bales off flatbed and throwing em on. For some reason it must have been imprinted on my DNA flatbed gotta be flat. Lol

For your intended use it doesn't make a difference.

Oh please please stay with the stock clearance lights. I love em.

It really is a stellar piece Paul. Plus it gave me a much clearer idea of what I need to do when I get around to building my flatbed. Which sucks cause I was gonna try to use off the shelf tool boxes and it is now clear I will be unable to do so

Thanks alot:haha:

thanks for the help guys! :waytogo: and thanks for the honest critique Eric, I really appreciate that..

see about ordering lights this week... got a big dent on the roof to work out next weekend.. gonna have to do a "poorman's stud-welder" deal on it... :haha:

lights are ordered... being I only see the lenses in NOS, I decided to just order the complete ones from LMC... if I don't like the lenses, I'll order 5 of the NOS ones.... but the bases are so weather hammered, I really need whole new ones... hope they aren't POS's...
