Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

oh, and on that note.. ;) the intemtion at this point.. is... to make the full floor/ kennel-ramp/wall/seats project for next winter layoff... 8 wks of outside, cold floor fab, fug yeah! :hack: :grind: :weld::weld:

I figure that project is a grand... $600 or so in PRP's from Kert and 400 or so in material's... labor, ummmmm, 87 to 374 hr's of labor??? ;) ????? :haha: :haha: :haha:

I think you need to do something. Or you're gonna get some ring-rust going.. Been a while now since the truck has gotten any favorable treatment.

sorry, missed these..... ummm yeah, somewhat of a change up..

the purists will be happy that I'll be holding off till at least next spring on the roof AC, if at all.... wanna see how it performs on the other rig for a while... i needed to do the kennel first anyway, so.. not sure if the kennel will be later this summer, or over the winter yet...

but, hopefully, in the next couple weeks, I'm gonna have a different, badarse update on this thing..... shhh, secret for 2 more days... ;)

eh, douche pulled the auction... it was an older fed signal light bar that was pretty cool for cheap......

it got me all revv'd on em again... the 54" JetSolaris i want is 2 g's... just can't swing that right now... if i had 2 g's, it would buy my tank/drawer work...

so i'm back to putting pennies aside for said fuel tank/drawer deal.....

Go down to your township yard and see if they have any light light bars on an old public works truck or police car that they're not using. We used to have piles of that stuff in the garages that they were too lazy to throw out.

thanks Cheify ;)

BANG! done.... finishing touch to the overall exterior look on the way....

6 rotator, 4 flasher, MINTY 52" Federal Signal Aerodynic 24EH on the way..... all the chrome will be redone satin black...

super stoked.. this is gonna look sick...

this was a top O' line unit in it's day.. the other one i was looking at was only a 2 rotator...

.

so.... gonna sneak mounting this in a couple weeks, after the black rig clutch is done, but before i do the body mounts on that rig... i really don't even care about it working right now, just want to get the standoffs/mounts welded/built and get it in just the right spot... I'm a freakin nut about things being properly spaced... :screwy: :haha:

on that note.... I'm not sure where i stand on the roof AC at this point... I'm inclined not to do it.. definitely want to see how it performs on blacky... where this becomes important is in how high i mount the lightbar..

if i don't run AC, I'm inclined to run the bar lower in relation to the spare, but if it's gonna have that AC unit in front of it, it needs to be proportioned right with the height....

and how hard i work to keep it tight to the spare.. gonna be one of those 2 hr, bunch of 2 x 4 blocks... "nope, move it up" try again, yada deals...

anyway, i know how high the AC will sit and have the cover off blacky to mock up.. just to make sure i'm not screwing myself down the road if i did go that route...

thinking it's probably gonna be some 1.5" standoffs and a 3/16 top plate mount gig... but i won't know till it's up there and see how the bar mounts...

bla, bla..... stay tuned.... stuff WILL happen to this rig this summer... other than bills, the fuel tank in this is my next $$$$ goal...

We've got a literal pile of amber and blue/red lightbars at work, Just sayin'

I've also still got the blue and red lightbar that was on my Blazer when I got it, It's a big square thing called a Federal Signal Twinsonic.

Isn't that just the way it works... As soon as you buy something people come out of the woodwork offering the same thing up. :haha:

meh, the implication is that, a light bar, is a lightbar..

one thing I thought was abundantly clear at this point was that, I have certain tastes and likes.. I'm certainly not just gonna throw any lightbar up there...

it's hard to dissuade me from my brain pics.... MANY lightbars out there are only lensed on the upper 1/2, etc, etc.. things i don't want, and where compromises.. while i still think the ultimate look for this rig is that 2 g jetsolaris, this is a fine second choice.. far better than 48" wolo's, etc...

i know my town guy wouldn't have anything like this floating around in their shop.. i've been in there... amber is a different beast than red/blue stuff sometimes...

Stoked for you to get this up there.

Really stoked you are thinking of changing your mind on the rooftop AC. Rig looks badass, the AC box, although functional, just doesn't' fit in my mind. You always make things look awesome, but i'm glad to hear this probably won't happen. Keep up the good work!

On your A/C do you have to put it up top? If you're gonna cut out the back floor for the kennel, can it go underneath someplace or even under the bed?

just not feasable to put it under the floor, just not enough space no matter how i configure....... it could be possible to run a modified unit in the not built yet, ps lower box that is supposed to be for dual bats.... but I'll cross those bridges when i get there...

oh, one of the reasons I'm bailing on the rooftop idea is how loud the units run.... it's pretty bad in the fiberglass cap, it'd be worse in a metal roof.. if i can remote mount, and duct to the cab, it would be far better... i was just sooooo set on that box being for bats.. i actually just came up with that idea.... maybe i could do a dual bat system under the floor instead.....

nice light bar buddy . join the club I see.

federal signal streethawk all light option bar . 4 amber / 1 center clear / frt/back wig wags / frt/back take downs / side alley lights .

just remember these old bars with 55watt halogen bulbs drink the amps . mine can pull up to 65 amps if all on .
