Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

ok, moving the build along, need winter projects.... got a call in to my drawer company about replacement draw slides for the rusty ones... hopefully, they're not stoopid $$$...

I also priced out alum from Fazio for doing the drawer tops, and as many dividers as I want... being the panels are just shy of 28" x 28", and i need 4, have to get a 4' x 10'... it's 3/16.. $240... that leaves a ton left over for dividers.. gonna pick it up later this week.. the dividers will be the 1/2 way cut thru, slid together deal, tack at the intersection, than slide into the drawer.. that way they can be removed for cleaning, reconfig, etc...

my intention was to do all the cutting and fitting of everything.... tack the tops on and then have my tank guys run final dress beads with the TIG around the tops... all the divider stuff I can do.. we'll see, maybe I'll feel frisky and try the tops with my spool...

I love Fazio's... I went to home depot and bought 4 grade 8 bolts, washers and nuts for like $16... when I went to fazios I got $5lbs for $6.50.. YES EIGHT POUNDS!!!!! LOL

I wish Tractor Supply was closer.... i go to the Fazio in Wall, which has a bunch of stuff...

but i tell ya what, the main place down in Glassboro (which is kinda near that Tractor Supply) is just fuggin nuts.... a store the size of Home Depot with every hardware-y, etc thing on the planet... than the steel warehouses are beyond impressive.... the whole time I'm there, I'm drooling.. pretty certain no one in the state has more steel than that place :haha:

I miss even having a place like the wall store to go to. There isn't anything even remotely like that here in Florida. Unless I go into Orlando, which I avoid doing like the plaque. I've actually told Ryan Who Runs the Wall Store they should open a place down here, would be a gold mine.

multiply everything Wall has by say ummmmm, 40 or 50... that's Glassboro.. :yikes: :haha:

heck, I still have a 4 x 8 of 1/4" and 1/8" down in the LAB™... that's the bellypans and bat box tho...

on a LAB™ aside... need to replace my bandsaw blade finally.. it snapped doing something simple for work.. but i can't b*tch, did all of Mutt + some... I have to wonder if i should change up the TPI this time.. it came with a very aggressive blade, i forget... but you couldn't feed anything to this vertical.. it'd spit it out... but i don't need it for any of the alum work really... backburner.....

no doubt.. smoking deal... thanks for remembering me... just can't manage it right now, $$$$$-wise...

I'm banking on this 85,000 mile one around the corner falling into my lap in the summer... be a bit more at 3 g's or so, but I'm pretty sure I can recoup the rest in parts and scrap...
That is the way I did mine, I bought a wrecked truck for 2200 bucks or so, then the motor was free after selling everything.

yeah, this is a damn clean single cab... i'll have to snap a pic of it.. i mean it's a dodge and axle/frame is rotten.. i'm sure there's some on the body too.. but nothing super noticable on the sheetmetal... think the bed is real clean, maybe a bit in the rockers.. it's that red/white 2-tone with the checkered decal-y stripe deal down the side..

the gray interior is like immaculate.. don't know what auto, or rear axle that has, but at 85 g's, it's pretty fresh I'd guess..

and i could hang onto it for a while if i have to.. i do have room for another vehicle here... ideally, i'd pull the mill and sell the rest as is, quickly.... and I'd be satisfied with $1500.. happy with 2...

i'm gonna go take a pic of it right now while i walk Kai....

stealth photo... definitely got some chit going on in the lower fenders, rockers... but i bet the bed/gate is reasonable, wasn't a work rig...

I ended up selling my axles for about 1200 bucks, bed for 600, cab for a few hundred etc. It worked out in the end! Goodluck.

Yup i goto Glassboro Fazio. Gotta rub a few out.. then 1 in parking lot b4 i go in... maybe ill go tomorrow and snap a video... lol

Its down the road from me

I bought my 2wd auto donor for 2200 bucks good runner, poor driver. 300k+ Sold the rolling chassis for 1500. Couldnt believe it.

That interior is very difficult to find here. That will sell online but maybe not locally.

If its automatic it's a pretty crappy dana 70 rear axle. Standard got the dana 80.

if i don't sell it as a roller... i'd pull the interior, hopefully it's a crack-free dash, and maybe the bed if it's sellable, than scrap the rest...

so my "slam it together and drive it for 2 yr's" faux-pas :doah: is gonna cost me $250 for 6 new sliders for the 3 out of 4 drawers.... couple of the ones i'm replacing will be good back ups...

that's about what i figured it was gonna be, about $75 a pair...

picking up alum for this right after x-mas...

I stopped by that one once, did a quick walk though......It took over an hour.

I go to the one down here in Delaware. I was just there on Wed getting some steel and as always picked up a bunch of grade-8 bolts, washers and nuts.
Over the years the place has changed, they used to have shelves and shelves of misc brackets and odd shaped steel. Now they've cleaned up the place and mostly only sells steel in 10' and 20' lengths. Also keep in mind they also sell DOM tubing and AR steel plates.
