Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

I wonder if that would hold items on a wall? Including some tools.

we're gonna find out. ;) be easy enough to check... I'll do a pic/vid for ya..

now that you mention that... i remember my dad having some magnet sheet on the wall of our garage for just such a purpose.. it wasn't a huge piece, maybe 10" x 15", but it worked for that... but being the 70's I'm sure that was killa stuff.. nowadays, we'll see...

i said fug it and went for the 60, ya know, the go big or go home approach... hmmm, GBGH.. ;)

hmmm, better make sure I have fresh blades for the razor knife...
The 030 stuff we use can be cut with a cheap pair of plastic handle scissors. You can also just score it, bend it, and it comes apart.

cool... yeah, I already had to draw up a little diagram of the various sizes to see if the 10' would do all 4 drawers... I'm hoping this stuff works good... friggin heavy enough, the roll is almost 30 lb's... :yikes: :pimp:

just got off the phone ordering the drawer slides, be here sometime next week... I really could have gotten away with 2 sets, but the 3rd set has a bit of grit/corrosion going on, so fug it, keep that pair as a backup... or use em for something else....

hmmmmmmm, pull-out dual battery shelf in the other lower box?

that actually has the potential to be pretty badarse.. obviously a bit more work... but boy battery swapping would be way easier... I'll have to measure that up tomorrow to see if it is doable....

no clue, doesn't say anywhere.... it is for outdoor use..

wish someone had warned me of that earlier...

trying to get the spool gun dialed in tonight..... decided to change up the one divider, hopefully I can do that tomorrow...

I'm getting foam on the brain.. and not the good neEr kind.. ;)

starting to peruse around.. the mushy stuff for chairs, etc.. not digging it so far.. gonna hit a few craft places tomorrow, but I'm not overly hopefully.. what i really think i need is the same kind of foam you see in pool noodles... which I believe is a form of polyethelene, closed cell foam... but it does apparently come in different weights, which i assume affects the density/squishy factor...

i kinda think I want/need something like this.... but a 48" x 48" x 2", etc doesn't seem easy to find... https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-UNUSED-C...924697?hash=item56a95235d9:g:hb0AAOSwSypY8jwk

I was actually looking for pool kickboards, etc in wally world today.. :haha:

someone mentioned the wrestling mat type stuff earlier.. i think a lot of that kind of stuff might be a bit too dense.. I'm guessing that's the weight of the foam... 2lb for noodles, 8 lb for mats, etc.. we have some of the blue ones at work... it's like white foam encapsulated in some blue kinda stuff... like an inch or 2 thick...

plus, you have blends.....

**** head explodes ****

**** welds cranium ****

throw in I want black.. ;)

what I currently think would work killa is multiple 1/2" thick layers of black control foam, initially, from these guys.....

http://protoolfoam.com/tool-control-foam-sheets-and-rolls/

but, the sheets are fuggin huge.. 4' x 108"..... so if i got like 2 sheets of black, i could lam up some 1" to 3" black blocks to slide in each on top of the tools.. initially... than if i decided to do the cutout, do that in the fire engine red they have down under.. looks pretty orange to me.. and have the black become a pullout cover...

need to send an e-mail to this place tomorrow and see if they'll even do a small 4 sheet order.. and what would the freight be for giant, 2 lb package... ;) they do apparently send sample packs out if requested...

we use this at work, Pelican vendors have it sized for their cases but I think you can get whatever size you ask for. We use the white with a black top layer and then cut out the layers to insert the tools so when a tool is missing you have the white standing out. They have some good videos on cutting and burning finger holes, you can heat up something and singe the edges and it can be made to have a pretty nice finish. Just another idea, I also think they do different colors so you could have black with orange where the tools go or vice versa. Whatever you do I'm sure it will turn out great. I know the hardest part has to be meeting your own expectations, can't wait to see how it turns out.

thanks man... it's another one of those ones where if i had 18 different samples sitting in front of me, it'd be easy... "ok, this is it!"

i forgot to mention that last night, that i had read something about using a hot knife, or maybe it was a heated wire tool? works awesome for great cutting of various foams apparently... but it was late, i didn't get to look around.. tonight, I'll research the tool.. makes sense, we use bigger versions at work for cutting rope and such...

for as much as I absolutely love the idea of the shadowed foam with orange under a black top in say 2 of the drawers.. it would be a perfect fit to the rig... I'm gonna have to be patient and get a feel for if it's feasible/needed... the drawers are 5" deep, and that would be wasting a bunch of space.. I'm even considering double layering in certain cubby holes... less used stuff in the bottom cutout......

i did find a viable, emergency cushion foam solution if need be at the fabric store today... the more mushy stuff in 2", 3", etc thick.. big hunks, pretty cheap.. pretty dense, but it is open cell which i'm not crazy about.. plus it wouldn't be very durable.. AND it's green... but in a pinch it would work to keep stuff in contact with the magnet.....

updates tomorrow....
