Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

it shouldn't.. that's why you need 4 relays, 2 per side... basically your making the park feed to the light switched in itself from the rest of that system, to cut power to the eye and allow the blinker feed to flash it... i haven't done the diagram, but I'm pretty sure my brain diagram will work.. when i get bored, i'll have to draw it up..

but i did just think of an issue with that.. i'll have to draw that up tonight so i can get a visual on it...

But wouldn't that cause it to blink the opposite of the blinker at the corner?

yup, brainfart... you're right, it will alternate.. not that that would be the end of the world, but i'd like to figure out a workaround for that.. no rush...

That is the problem with LED compare to incandescence bulbs. You can't back feed an LED to have it still work like an alternator light or the front side marker lights.
The front marker lights being LED seem to be part of the problem also. If I think I could get away with it. I wire the relays the same as the front marker lights. Brown (running lights) on 85 a relay and dark blue / light blue (right turn / left turn) on 86 (right and left would be separate relays). For those of you who are familiar with relays would say that wouldn't work since either 86 or 85 needs to be to ground and your right. It works with factory (single filament) bulb because it is wired sort of in series with a 1157 duel filament bulb. Power goes thought single filament bulb then through duel filament bulb to ground. Just replace the single filament bulb with a relay. The problem is the front marker lights are also LED in place of the 1157 bulb.

Just read through the whole thread, again. All I have to add

I was curious on the gage bezel, is there a future trim piece at the joint with the column, like the factory truck had?
I concur with the call for 3d print on this bezel. I'd love to do this, and may need to make one. It's given me bad ideas I cannot afford

Nice work

good eye... ;)

i didn't bother doing it cuz i won't actually be using that column.. when i do the 12v, Ron Francis block, wiring and column, I'm gonna do it than.. basically i plan to use the rubber collar thing that slides over the column on the pre 80's column I'm gonna use. than at the bottom I'm gonna build a composite "bridge" kind of piece across the bottom to keep it in place.. kind of like the factory plastic one in the 89...

and thanks... :)

currently I'm just doing some minor maintenance on Mutt and trying to dig out all the upper plastics and headliner for a clean/refinish/reinstall... probably wont do the rockers till after the 4th of July...

ordered rockers and cab corners.. the whole right side is on backorder.. we'll see how long that takes... i'd like to do this end of june/july... meanwhile just enjoying running Mutt daily... threw a head unit and pair of 6 x 9's on the floor for some tunes...

i just went with LMC.. i was gonna order AMD, but their website sucks.. didn't have it listed... all the same Taiwan cr@p anyway...

11 days between ryoken sightings in here, was wondering if facebook had sucked up your soul ;) good to see ya in here :waytogo:

just nothing going on... spring busy season... really haven't touched the rig other than the steering wheel... ;)

Never been a fan of the display radios. Too much light in the cab. But I drive at night a lot

pass. I still vote small marine round gauge style. Cheap, easy to operate by feel. I gotta have buttons.

well, i've always tended to be that way too.. i actually hunted for a cd player that had a rotary volume knob that i'm using in the rig..

i was just thinking having some video capability might be nice.
